Five cases with complex partial seizure, four boys and one girl, were included in this study, Their ages of onset ranged from 3 to11 years old. Frequency of seizure ranged from 2 to3 fits per month to 50 to 60 fits per day. Four cases were right-handers, one case was left-hander. All of them had normal intelligence. In this study, the changes in spinal motor neuron excitability of stroke patient were measured before and after scalp electroacupuncture. Most children with congenital heart disease (CHD) were restricted in their daily activities, which can affect their normal psychosocial development. In this study, we used cardiopulmonary stress testing to evaluate the cardiopulmonary responses of children with congenital heart disease surgery.The result showed that the pulmonary function was within normal limit. Though the incidence rate of abnormal ECG during exercise test was 54%, most of the subjects were asymptomatic. The percentage of functional aerobic impairment (FAI) was 22%, but is clinically insignifieant. Traumatic cervical cord injury with quadriplegia generally causes respiratory dysfunction. A total of 50 cervical cord injured patients were collected for study of their pulmonary function. They were divided into two groups. Twenty-six cases with complete motor paralysis below lesion site (Frankel A or B) were placed in Group A, the other 24 cases with incomplete motor function (Frankel C or D) were placed in Group B. A survey of urological problems in island-wide chronic spinal cord injuries was done by questionnaires and telephone from December 1992 to June 1993. Four hundred and three responses (48.26% of total samples) were collected for data analysis.There were 343 males and 60 females in this study. The diagnostic criteria of Brachmann-de Lange syndrome includes: 1. congenital malformations; 2. growth retardation; 3. neurodevelopmental delay. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy, defined as deposition of amyloid in the walls of brain vessels, is belived to be a common cause of intracerebral hemorrhage in the elderly. It differentiates from the intracerebral hemorrhage of hypertension by its specific location of bleeding. The hematoma from cerebral amyloid angiopathy, sometimes multilobar, is always located in the brain cortices and the white matter beneath them. This qualitative study was conducted to explore and describe the role experience of five women whose lives were disrupted by a traumatic spinal cord injury and who later returned to their communities after completing intensive rehabilitation programs. In-depth interviews and participant observations were used to examine the experiences of these women. The findings exemplify how the women's use of adaptation and negotiation and the development of a new role as self-advocate facilitated the reestablishment of their life roles. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of cardiac patients' health beliefs regarding exercise and their adherence to an exercise program following a documented cardiac event. A sample of 90 subjects, recovering from a recent cardiac event, was selected from two acute care medical centers in southwestern Michigan and northwestern Michigan. H-reflexes of the flexor carpi radialis muscle were studied in 60 controls and 42 patients with C7 radiculopathy. Reflex parameters were compared to normal standards and correlated with clinical evaluations, radiologic and other electrophysiologic findings. The surface recording technique used was similar to that described in the previous report for the study of normal subjects.The present data reveled: 1) Patients with C7 radiculopathy showed an abnormally prolonged latency of the FCR H-reflex. It increased from an average of 16.8±1.9 msec in normal subjects to 22.4±1.7 msec, p＜0.05. 2) The peak-to-peak amplitude of the H-reflex was significantly decreased from a normal …

A good exercise habit should include warm-up, aerobic exercise, and cool down. The latter can prevent post-exercise venous pooling and reduce the risk of postural hypotension and myocardial ischemia. Besides, the frequency, duration, and mode of exercise also related to the benefits of exercise. This study investigated the exercise habit of 273 randomly selected (145 men, 128 women) ordinary people by questionnaire. Iatrogenic femoral nerve damage has already been described after retroperitoneal tumor resection, hysterectomy, abdominal rectoplexy and total hip arthroplasty etc., but never after ascending colon carcinoma resection. We report the occurrence of femoral nerve injury in a 76 years old male patients after the procedure of right hemicolectomy and debulking of the tumor. Neurological symptoms appeared immediately after surgery. Sensory deficit was evident with reduced sensation of the anterior surface of right thigh and knee.
