Introduction

  • The pelvis and its floor play an integral role in everyday quality of life for both women and men.
  • Survey research on women’s health content in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs has helped develop curricular structure for entry-level therapists.
  • Characteristics of content presented on men’s pelvic health (MPH) in DPT programs is unknown.
  • 2019: The Section on Women’s Health voted to change their name to the Academy of Pelvic Health to be all inclusive.

Objective

  • To examine current entry-level content on MPH in DPT programs, perceived barriers to content delivery, and to support future entry-level curricular development.

  • 9.7 percent of DPT students identified as URM nationally.
  • In Minnesota, 96.75 percent of persons with PT licenses self identify as White.

    Introduction

    Baseball players are at an increased risk for shoulder dysfunction due to repetitive overhead throwing. Patients with symptomatic shoulders present with altered scapular kinematics, with the greatest variations found in upward rotation and posterior tilt which modify subacromial space. Previous investigations of the effects of kinesiotape (KT) on scapular kinematics have been inconclusive.

    Objective

    To determine the effects of KT on scapular kinematics in symptomatic collegiate baseball players.

    Participants

    Six Division II and III baseball players between 21 and 25 years old (mean 22.7) with a symptomatic throwing shoulder. Four were right hand dominant.

    • Minimal data exists on optimizing the retention of undergraduate students to the DPT program within the same academic institution.
    • Many DPT programs provide information and resources for applicants to explain admission requirements and overview the program curriculum.

    Purpose

    • Identify and understand undergraduate student and faculty member’s knowledge, perceptions and resources regarding the DPT program within the same institution.

    • Due to the nature of their sports, soccer and lacrosse athletes are at risk for repeated head impacts.

    Introduction

    • Developmental delay is present in approximately 15 percent of children in the United States. 1
    • Less than one fifth of those children receive early intervention before age 3.
    • Screening processes in pediatric settings are insufficient to identify all children with developmental delay.

    Objective

    • Investigate the level of agreement in typical methods of administration of the 36 month Ages and Stages Questionnaire 3rd ed. (ASQ 3) between parents, CCPs, and student physical therapists (SPTs).
