As occupational therapy education is becoming more mindful of disparities in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the classroom and clinical practice, adjustments in curricula need to be made to affect long term changes, especially considering the many connections to intersectionality and improved patient outcomes. This poster explores emerging best practices and important reflections when reviewing health curricula, with special attention paid to the “hidden curriculum” surrounding DEI within occupational therapy education programs. Within our profession, we possess many tools for improving our patients’ and clients’ lives, which can be translated to mentorship of other OTPs by making it an intentional aspect of our career. Building upon our role competencies allows us to explore creative ways in which we can enrich our colleagues and students. By reviewing and identifying AOTA’s five “Standards for Continuing Competency” through the lens of being a mentor, confidence can be built based on what each OTP currently possesses.
