Prevalence And Factors Associated With Maternal Near-Miss In Magway Regional Hospital, Magway, Myanmar, Aye Myo Thet
Prevalence And Factors Associated With Maternal Near-Miss In Magway Regional Hospital, Magway, Myanmar, Aye Myo Thet
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background: Maternal mortality is an important public health concern. Women die every day from pregnancy complications, delivery-related issues, and childbirth. Pregnancy related morbidity and mortality in Myanmar were dramatically increased from 17.6% in 2012 to 20.2% in 2018. In Myanmar, there are limited studies on maternal near miss. Therefore, this study aimed to estimate the prevalence and determine the factors associated with maternal near miss in Magway Regional Hospital, Myanmar. Method: This cross-sectional study employed a health facility-based secondary data analysis to estimate the prevalence of maternal near miss cases, and examine factors associated with maternal near miss in Magway …

Internal Medicine, East Africa
Introduction: We aimed to quantify health outcomes and programmatic implications of scaling up cervical cancer (CC) screening and treatment options for women living with HIV in care aged 18–65 in Kenya.
Methods: Mathematical model comparing from 2020 to 2040: (1) visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and cryotherapy (Cryo); (2) VIA and Cryo or loop excision electrical procedure (LEEP), as indicated; (3) human papillomavirus (HPV)-DNA testing and Cryo or LEEP; and (4) enhanced screening technologies (either same-day HPV-DNA testing or digitally enhanced VIA) and Cryo or LEEP. Outcomes measured were annual number of CC cases, deaths, screening and treatment interventions, …
Creating A Community-Based Protocol To Prevent Unintended Pregnancy In Homeless Women In Monongalia County, West Virginia, Jessica Eva Wukasch
Creating A Community-Based Protocol To Prevent Unintended Pregnancy In Homeless Women In Monongalia County, West Virginia, Jessica Eva Wukasch
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Background: At any given time, 10% of homeless women are pregnant, about twice the rate of all U.S. women of reproductive age (5%) (Healthcare for the Homeless, 2001). According to Healthcare for the Homeless Council ([HHC], 2012), approximately “73% of pregnancies among homeless women were unintended at the time of conception.” In addition, “about 12% of homeless children are placed in foster care compared to 1% of other children” (HHC, 2012). There is an evident need to address unintended pregnancy among homeless women.
Objective: The overall objective was to create an accessible and useful community-based protocol to reduce the rate …
A Phenomenological Photovoice Exploration Of Female Exercisers’ Experiences Of Their Body In Fitness Center Environments, Katherine E. Fairhurst
A Phenomenological Photovoice Exploration Of Female Exercisers’ Experiences Of Their Body In Fitness Center Environments, Katherine E. Fairhurst
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
For many women, the relationship with their body and exercise is complex. Exercise can have positive effects on body image, however, not all women appear to benefit positively from all types of exercise. To date, body image research has focused on exercise as an activity and less so on the context in which exercise is performed. Women frequently exercise in fitness centers as young adults which, unfortunately, is associated with body dissatisfaction. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach with Photovoice methodology, we explored young adult women’s lived body experiences while exercising in fitness centers. A purposive sample of 11 …
Hear Me Roar, Abigail R. Seethoff
Hear Me Roar, Abigail R. Seethoff
Graduate Student Theses, Dissertations, & Professional Papers
Hear Me Roar, a compilation of personal essays interspersed with short forms, grapples with the nuances of compliance versus autonomy in the context of the male gaze, beauty standards, and pop culture. The collection also explores what it means to treasure something—another person, an object—and how to express and deepen that affection.
