Background: The Affordable Care Act (ACA) waived deductibles and eliminated coinsurance for colonoscopies for Medicare beneficiaries beginning on January 1, 2011. This study investigated the effect of the ACA’s removing of financial barriers on the receipt of colonoscopies among insured elderly, who are predominantly covered by Medicare. Often, sexual consent is only discussed and explored in the context of sexual assault. While consent is often the deciding factor to determine if a crime occurred, consent is also a vital part of an equally enjoyable sexual encounter. The present study examines a variety of variables effects on consent attitudes, norms, and communication behaviors to attempt to identify predictors of college student consent communication. Findings and recommendations are discussed that highlight the necessity of viewing consent as a communicative act.

The primary purpose of this study was to examine contraceptive knowledge, attitude, intentions and willingness to use contraceptives among adolescents’ girls in Ghana, West Africa, by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior. A cross-sectional survey was conducted. Results: 85.3% of the respondent had knowledge of condoms. 88.34% of the adolescent girls intended to use contraceptives during sex and 25.5% of the variance observed in intentions to use contraceptives is explained by subjective norms and attitudes toward behavior. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program serves 46 million people but is controversial. The media is positioned to influence political and public opinions about SNAP policy. This study identifies the SNAP media discourse and investigates perspectives of SNAP participants and frontline workers about the program.

I employed a mixed-methods design with two aims. Aim 1 gathered 295 articles across six news outlets, semi-inductively coding the articles for characters, assignment of responsibility, and framing of the article. This study uses an intersectional theoretical framework to examine Black college women’s sexual health by focusing on how they engage in sexual decision making within their social contexts. This qualitative study analyzed 20 individual in-depth interviews of Black female undergraduate students, ages 18-22, who attend a predominantly white institution (PWI) in the Southeastern United States.
