En 1999, on a constaté un nombre important de réclamations pour des maladies professionnelles reliées à l’exposition au béryllium (Be). Le réseau de la santé mène depuis des interventions dans des établissements de secteurs d’activités ciblés afin de mieux caractériser cette exposition dans ces milieux et d’estimer le nombre de travailleurs potentiellement à risque. Le fourrage conservé dans des silos à tour conventionnels subit une fermentation. Or, ce processus génère des gaz toxiques à des concentrations susceptibles de causer des intoxications graves, pouvant entraîner la mort. En raison de l’insuffisance d’oxygène et de la présence de ces gaz, il est difficile de déterminer le moment où l’atmosphère interne est salubre. One summer morning in 2009, at approximately 11:30 AM, a 41 year-old male, long-haul, semi tractor-trailer driver drove off an interstate highway, over a guardrail, and continued into a wooded ravine. His trailer was empty and he was travelling to pick up a load of retail goods. The trailer disengaged from the tractor, the fuel tanks ruptured, the tractor overturned and caught fire. As the tractor overturned, the driver was ejected. A passing motorist called emergency medical (EMS) services; EMS arrived and found the driver dead at the scene.

Di lingkungan Universitas Indonesia, setiap tahun terjadi peningkatan kejadian kecelakaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat hubungan antara persepsi risiko keselamatan berkendara dengan perilaku penggunaan sabuk keselamatan pada mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan semi kuantitatif dan desain penelitian potong lintang. Partisipan adalah 98 mahasiswa Universitas Indonesia di Kampus Depok, berusia 18-25 tahun yang mengendarai kendaraan sendiri. Cette étude de cas, menée dans deux entreprises minières, a permis de confirmer les défis de recrutement et d’intégration des nouveaux travailleurs que doivent relever les entreprises : l’une d’elles a dû renouveler 72 % de sa main-d’œuvre entre 2003 et 2008. Des mesures (rencontres d’information, formation sur les aspects de sécurité et compagnonnage) ont été mises en place pour accueillir et intégrer ces travailleurs. Center for Research on Utilization of Scientific Knowledge, 1969) Knowledge Transfer Model and using Kirkpatrick's Training Evaluation Model (1996a, 1996b) levels of Reaction, Behavior, and Learning, this study analyzed knowledge transfer between public school district managers, cafeteria managers, and line workers. These employees were trained through cascade training methods during the federally mandated implementation of the Process Approach to HACCP food safety system beginning in the 2005-2006 school year.

Les troubles musculosquelettiques aux membres supérieurs (TMS-MS) comptaient en moyenne au Québec, entre 1998 et 2002, pour 8,7 % de l’ensemble des lésions compensées du secteur des Services à l’automobile, mais représentaient 14,9 % des jours d’arrêt de travail et 13,8 % des déboursés totaux de compensation. The United States Air Force has high volume biological air sampling equipment available including the XMX/2L-MIL and DFU-1000. Neither system has been evaluated for effectiveness in the collection of viruses. Furthermore, decontamination methods have not been evaluated for these systems after use in sampling for a viral agent. MS2 bacteriophage was used as a surrogate virus. Aerosolized MS2 was released into a 12 m3 exposure chamber. High and moderate airborne concentrations of MS2 were evaluated. Low volume impingers were used for comparative purposes as well. Numerous chemicals with ototoxic properties may cause hearing loss directly, potentiate noise-induced hearing loss, or produce additive effects. Of interest to the US Air Force are studies showing ototoxic effects of JP-8 jet fuel and its hydrocarbon constituents. The Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, in conjunction with the USAF, is studying the ototoxic effects of JP-8 in rats. The study requires a white noise source that is one octave band wide, centered at 8 kHz frequency, delivered from outside of exposure chambers. En 2000, près de 8000 travailleurs québécois ont été exposés aux fluides de coupe qui servent au refroidissement et à la lubrification du métal lors de l’usinage. La croissance bactérienne dans ces fluides est une problématique reconnue qui peut entraîner une perte des qualités intrinsèques des fluides de coupe. De plus, cette croissance dans les fluides peut produire une accumulation de toxines et d’allergènes. Lors des opérations avec des fluides de coupe, des aérosols sont produits et les contaminants se retrouvent dans l’air. Ils sont alors susceptibles d’être inhalés par les travailleurs. Il y a très peu d’informations sur les méthodes reconnues pour juger de l’empoussièrement de ces systèmes. Ces quelques méthodes peuvent être objectives avec des valeurs numériques ou subjectives, à partir du jugement d’experts. La recherche présentée dans ce rapport s’inscrit dans la lignée de celles qui, en ergonomie, soutiennent que concevoir des installations de production, c’est concevoir des situations de travail. Les opérateurs y travailleront dans de nouvelles conditions matérielles, d’espace, d’organisation du travail et de formation. Ils déploieront donc de nouvelles façons de faire, soit une nouvelle « activité réelle » de travail. De cette activité réelle future dépendra en grande partie l’atteinte des objectifs de production poursuivis par le projet (qualité, quantité, temps de cycle, gaspillages, etc.) mais également, les impacts sur les travailleurs (santé, sécurité, niveau satisfaction, etc.).
