Objective: The study was aimed at comparing intrapartum and postpartum outcomes between pregnant patients with and without antenatal COVID-19 infection using aggregated, deidentified electronic health record (EHR) data. Design and Setting: This retrospective cohort study included data from over 80 health care organizations within the TriNetX Analytics Research Network. Population: Individuals admitted for delivery from Jan 2020 to May 2023 were studied. Methods: We studied individuals with ICD-10 codes for delivery, COVID-19 diagnosis, and primary outcomes. To the Editor: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) represent a spectrum of severe mucocutaneous reactions characterized by extensive epidermal detachment, most commonly due to medications.1 Some viruses, such as the human immunodeficiency virus, have been found to be an independent risk factor for the development of SJS and TEN, though the mechanism is not completely understood.2 Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a novel coronavirus identified in late 2019, is most commonly associated with mild respiratory illness. Essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic face heightened levels of anxiety and depression due to increased work demands, lack of adequate personal protective equipment, fear of contracting the virus, and fear of spreading it to loved ones. This is a time of urgent need for mental health support for workers affected by the pandemic crisis. Clinicians may employ empirically supported interventions derived from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and related therapies. Psychological First Aid, an evidence-based crisis intervention, may be utilized to emphasize basic needs and support, but is intended as an acute disaster intervention.
