Hispanic and Black communities have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality (California Department of Public Health, 2020). Inequitable access to viral testing resources may have exacerbated these COVID-19-related racial and ethnic health disparities. For example, reports from the Los Angeles Department of Public Health revealed glaring viral testing disparities in April 2020 (early pandemic), with predominantly White communities in Los Angeles County receiving 65% more tests than Hispanic and Black communities. Research has emphasized the need for more interventions that promote physician trainee well-being and resilience during the early stages of training. Financial incentives have been introduced in several countries to improve diabetes management. In Ontario, the most populous province in Canada, a Diabetes Management Incentive (DMI) was introduced to family physicians practicing in patient enrollment models in 2006. This paper examines the impact of the DMI on diabetes-related services provided to individuals with diabetes in Ontario. Longitudinal health administrative data were obtained for adults diagnosed with diabetes and their family physicians. BACKGROUND: Personal narrative plays an important role in the process of recovery from psychotic illnesses. Participatory video is a novel, active intervention that can be used as a tool for fostering narrative development among people with psychosis.

AIM: To assess the feasibility, acceptability and potential clinical utility of participatory video as an innovative tool for promoting recovery in early psychosis.

METHODS: Ten outpatients of an early psychosis intervention programme were recruited to participate in 13 biweekly workshops to plan, film and produce documentary-style videos of their experiences. Availability And Consumption Of Vitamin A Foods Among Southern Ethiopian And Zambian Primary Students, Trang Vuong

Purpose: Understand vitamin A food availability in open-air markets (OAM’s), and consumption of those foods by primary school children in southern Ethiopia/Zambia.

Methods: Conducted inventories of all consumable/potable items and interviewed 6-7th grade students about consumption of items with vitamin A.

Results: Students consumed most of the 14 vitamin A foods/items sold in OAM’s. Zambian students ate more liver, pumpkin, squash, watermelon, and wild fruits, while Ethiopian students almost never consumed squash, watermelon or wild fruits.

Conclusions: The availability of Vitamin A foods in Ethiopian and Zambian OAMs are varied; however, Zambian children reportedly eat more vitamin A foods. Nutrition …

Background

In addition to its health and nutritional benefits, breastfeeding can save low-income, food insecure mothers the cost of infant formula so that money can be spent on food and other necessities. Yet breastfeeding may exacerbate food insecurity by negatively affecting maternal employment. The relationship between food insecurity and breastfeeding has been explored previously, with varying results. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between prenatal food insecurity and breastfeeding initiation and early cessation (< 10 weeks) among U.S. mothers.
