Objectif général

Évaluer la validité de trois technologies, soit la spinoscopie, lа dynamométrie triaxiale (B-200) et la thermographie, pour diagnostiquer une lombalgie récente chez des travailleurs.

Objectifs spécifiques

Déterminer les caractéristiques diagnostiques de chacune des trois technologies avec et sans les données cliniques, comparer les technologies entre elles, évaluer l'influence de la motivation des sujets sur la précision diagnostique chacune et déterminer la reproductibilité des résultats selon chacun des utilisateurs des technologies.

En continuation avec le projet de développement d'un limiteur de portée pour grue mobile, cette expérimentation a été faite afin, d'une part, d'évaluer la précision de grutiers d'expérience à juger de distance séparant des éléments de leur grue d'une ligne électrique et d'autre part, de vérifier l'adaptation de certains paramètres fonctionnels du dispositif limiteur de portée à la façon dont les opérateurs utilisent la grue et au comportement de la grue elle-même.

Le but du projet présenté est de mieux documenter et comprendre les mécanismes d'accidents du personnel soignant en milieu hospitalier, surtout les accidents de manutention. L'originalité de l'étude réside dans la nature des données recueillies pour décrire le processus accidentel. Monte Carlo simulation and source-receptor modeling are used to estimate the TCE exposures encountered by select workers at aircraft maintenance facilities at Hill Air Force Base between 1955 and 1979. An epidemiological study of this group, a retrospective cohort study of 14,457 workers who were employed at the base for a minimum of one year between 1952 and 1956, was headed by Dr. R. Spirtas of the National Cancer Institute to evaluate mortality associated with occupational exposure. One of the major conclusions of the study was that TCE 'probably does not pose a strong carcinogenic risk for man.' In the …

A 51-year-old male self-employed logger/farmer was preparing to unload logs at a sawmill. The load consisted of about 18 logs, 10-22" in diameter and 8-12 feet long. The load had been secured by 2 binders (chains) to the back of a Chevrolet flatbed single-axle truck. The forward of the 2 chains had been removed by the victim. The victim was pulling a wagon on which two children and one adult were riding on their way to the farmer's fishing pond. At about 3:25 pm the victim was on the roof to retrieve a four by eight sheet of 3/4" plywood to be used at another location on the plant site. The primary goal of this thesis is to identify, evaluate, and control occupational hazards that may exist in health care facilities.

Due to the complex nature of health care facilities, healthcare workers are always challenged by an imposing group of occupational hazards. The magnitude and diversity of these hazards, and the constantly changing nature of government regulations make it difficult to guarantee absolute protection and accuracy of the material contained herein. However, awareness of the risks, compliance with basic preventive measures, and adequate interventions are all essential components to consider in protecting healthcare workers.
