Le béryllium est connu pour sa grande toxicité. Il provoque, suite à l’inhalation de poussières ou de vapeurs des pneumopathies sévères (bérylliose) et des atteintes chroniques dite maladie chronique du béryllium (MCB). En moyenne, 1à 20% des travailleurs exposés deviennent sensibilisés, desquels 1 à 10 % développent la MCB. Il existe un test de laboratoire couramment utilisé pour déceler la sensibilisation d’un travailleur au béryllium; il s’agit du test de prolifération des lymphocytes en présence de béryllium le "Beryllium Lymphocyte Proliferation Test" (BeLPT). L’utilisation de gants peu adhérents force le travailleur à appliquer un effort musculaire supplémentaire pour retenir l’objet manipulé, pouvant conduire à une sensation d’inconfort, de douleur ou même à des problèmes musculo-squelettiques des membres supérieurs. L’objectif principal de cette étude préliminaire était d’explorer différentes approches pour caractériser le niveau d’adhérence des gants de protection.

Le seul traitement efficace de l’asthme professionnel est le retrait de l’exposition à l’agent en cause. Cependant, malgré le retrait de l’exposition, l’asthme persiste chez la grande majorité des patients. Identifying what stressors affect an officer and how he or she copes is essential in maintaining psychologically healthy officers. Studies have found that police officers consider the organizationally based aspects of the job to greatly influence their level of stress. The present research used the Police Stress Survey and COPE Inventory to identify common stressors and coping strategies among forty-five officers in the state of Indiana. Keberadaan PRT diselimuti oleh berbagai persoalan struktural seperti kemiskinan, diskriminasi, ideologi patriarki, feodalisme dan kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kondisi kesehatan kerja PRT di Surabaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada informan kunci. EMS personnel were examined for Post Traumatic Stress symptoms and the usefulness of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) using the Los Angeles Symptom Checklist (LASC) and a demographics questionnaire. This study revealed that women in this group show higher PTSD symptoms than male coworkers. Level of Training (LOT) of the EMS provider did not demonstrate a significant difference in whether a provider developed PTSD. EMS personnel receiving debriefing actually suffered greater levels of PTSD than those that did not receive debriefing. And 16% of EMS providers in this study suffered from PTSD, while approximately 20% suffered from partial PTSD or …

This research was designed to evaluate surface sampling protocols for use with culture and quantitative PCR (QPCR) amplification assay for detection of the gram-negative bacterial biothreat simulant Erwinia herbicola on a variety of surface materials. Surfaces selected for evaluation were wood laminate, glass and computer monitor screens, metal file cabinets, plastic arena seats, nylon seat cushions, finished concrete flooring, and vinyl tile flooring. Objective: To examine the health and economic outcomes associated with a comprehensive weight management program delivered to employees.

Methods: Data collected on 516 individuals participating in a lifestyle-based weight management program delivered to employees from three corporations were analyzed at baseline and intervention-end (26 or 52 weeks). One-year post-intervention data for two subgroups were examined for pharmaceutical use (n ! 61) and health outcomes (n ! 46).

Results: Average body weight decreased 5.4% (P " 0.001) and average waist circumference decreased 7.2% (P " 0.001). Average blood pressure, Beck Depression Inventory scores, and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale scores improved (P " …

Cependant, plusieurs travailleurs choisissent de ne pas en porter et justifient ce choix principalement par le fait que les gants les empêchent d’effectuer leur travail correctement. Cette perception est confirmée par de nombreuses études qui ont démontré que les gants de protection affectent la dextérité, soit l’habileté d’un individu à manipuler des objets rapidement et avec précision.
