Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many universities to expand the use of videoconferencing technology to continue academic coursework. This study examines dental students’ experience with videoconferencing technology, comfort levels, and perceptions of using videoconferencing technology.

Methods: 54 out of 100 second-year dental students enrolled in a course on local anesthesia, 54 completed a survey following an online synchronous lecture given in September 2020. Survey questions asked about prior experience with videoconferencing, comfort levels, and reasons for not turning on their video (showing their face).

Results: Overall, 48.2% had little or no prior experience with videoconferencing prior to March 2020. …

The CDC research actively continues gathering information related to short and long-term symptoms that remain following the acute phase of Covid-19 diagnosis (CDC, 2020).

Fatigue and shortness of breath are listed among the most commonly reported long-term symptoms of Covid-19:

1. Fatigue
2. Shortness of Breath
3. Cough
4. Joint Pain
5. Chest Pain (CDC, 2020).

Evidence suggests that older adults over the age of 60 who have multiple comorbidities are more susceptible and are at a higher risk of contracting the Covid-19 virus thus potentially prolonging recovery time post diagnosis (Greenhalgh, Knight, A’Court, Buxton, & Husain, 2020).

The vitamin and supplement industry has increased exponentially in profits as well as potential products on the market since the turn of the century. However, these products are not regulated, nor do they undergo any premarket clinical research or testing. Public health is compromised by vitamins and supplements that are available for American consumption that is disproportionately unregulated to their chemically similar counterparts. Diabetes can impact the mortality and morbidity of an individual and it alone can have lifelong effects upon the individual. These effects may include dependency upon medication, lifestyle modifications, and diet and physical activity guidelines. The COVID‐19 pandemic has significantly changed the landscape of kidney transplantation in the United States and worldwide. In addition to adversely impacting allograft and patient survival in postkidney transplant recipients, the current pandemic has affected all aspects of transplant care, including transplant referrals and listing, organ donation rates, organ procurement and shipping, and waitlist mortality. Critical decisions were made during this period by transplant centers and individual transplant physicians taking into consideration patient safety and resource utilization. Emerging evidence indicates that the predictability of signals early in life may influence the developing brain. This study examines links between a novel indicator of maternal mood dysregulation, mood entropy, and child neurodevelopmental outcomes. Associations between prenatal maternal mood entropy and child neurodevelopment were assessed in 2 longitudinal cohorts. Maternal mood was measured several times over pregnancy beginning as early as 15 weeks’ gestation. Shannon’s mood entropy was applied to distributions of mothers’ responses on mood questionnaires. Myeloid differentiation primary response protein 88 (MYD88) is a critical universal adapter that transduces signaling from Toll-like and interleukin receptors to downstream nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). MYD88L265P (leucine changed to proline at position 265) is a gain-of-function mutation that occurs frequently in B-cell malignancies such as Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia. In this study, E3 ligase RING finger protein family 138 (RNF138) catalyzed K63-linked nonproteolytic polyubiquitination of MYD88L265P, resulting in enhanced recruitment of interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinases and elevated NF-κB activation. However, RNF138 had little effect on wild-type MYD88 (MYD88WT). With either RNF138 knockdown or mutation on MYD88 ubiquitination sites, MYD88L265P did not constitutively activate …

Introduction: Viruses have always been a major cause of various disastrous pandemics in mankind’s history. H1N1 became a threat when its original strain was first discovered back in the swine flu pandemic of 2009.
