A043: Effects Of Treadmill Exercise On Negative Emotions In Postmenopausal Women, Bing Han, Peizhen Zhang

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Negative emotions occur across all genders and age groups, but their prevalence is notably higher in women during and after perimenopause. This study aims to analyze the effects of a treadmill-based exercise program on depression, anxiety, and stress in community-dwelling Chinese women. Additionally, it seeks to investigate whether these changes are associated with physical changes, such as improvements in body composition or body satisfaction. Method: A total of 80 postmenopausal women (57.04 ± 5.49 years) were recruited from local communities and participated in this single-blind, controlled trial. Participants were assigned to either a control group (n = 40) or an …

A058: The Effects Of Isotemporal Reallocation Of 24-Hour Activity Behaviors On Physical Fitness In Preschool Children, Yixin Liang, Junyu Wang, Jie Zhuang

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Preschool children's physical fitness is critical for lifelong health, yet recent trends show declining fitness levels, rising obesity, and reduced physical competence. Physical activity (PA), sedentary behavior (SB), and sleep (SLP) are key lifestyle factors influencing health. Compositional data analysis (CDA) addresses multicollinearity among these behaviors, while the isotemporal substitution model evaluates the effects of reallocating time between them. This study investigates the associations between 24-hour movement behaviors and preschool children's physical fitness, offering evidence-based recommendations. Method: A total of 806 preschool children aged 3–6 years were recruited from three kindergartens in Shanghai using cluster random and convenience sampling. Demographic …

A054: Exploring Physical Education Teachers' Critical Health Literacy Structure And Assessment Tool Development, Yuesen Zhang, Zhihua Yin, Yiming Xie, Ruilin Xu

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Under China's “Healthy China 2030” strategy and ongoing reforms in school physical education (PE), strengthening PE teachers' critical health literacy (CHL)—their ability to critically evaluate health information, make evidence-based decisions, and promote community health—has become essential. Although CHL holds both theoretical and practical significance, its structural dimensions among PE teachers remain insufficiently studied. This study systematically analyzes the theoretical framework of CHL and develops a validated assessment tool adapted to China's educational context. Method: A mixed-methods approach was adopted. First, over 200 CHL-related articles from CNKI, ProQuest, and other databases were analyzed to construct a preliminary framework. Second, 40 PE …

A055: Aerobic Exercise Improves Sarcopenia And Gut-Muscle Axis In Abx-Treated Samp8 Mice, Sisi Yao, Wenfeng Liu

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Sarcopenia, characterized by reduced skeletal muscle mass and function, is a common geriatric condition that impairs mobility and quality of life. Its causes include neuroendocrine dysregulation, chronic inflammation, malnutrition, and gut microbiota imbalance. The gut microbiota influences muscle metabolism and function via the gut-muscle axis, and aerobic exercise has been shown to improve both gut microbiota composition and muscle function. This study explores whether aerobic exercise can alleviate sarcopenia induced by gut microbiota dysbiosis through the gut-muscle axis, offering a basis for exercise interventions. The study employed the senescence-accelerated mouse strain P8 (SAMP8) model. Gut microbiota dysbiosis was induced via …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by cognitive impairment, with evidence suggesting that exercise can improve cognitive function. Our previous studies demonstrated that aerobic exercise improves cognitive dysfunction and enhances synaptic plasticity in APP/PS1 mice, while identifying the endogenous microRNA-3473e as a potential regulator of neuronal activity and cognitive function. However, the precise mechanism underlying this regulation remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which aerobic exercise regulates miR3473e to improve synaptic plasticity and cognitive dysfunction in APP/PS1 mice. Exercise intervention was performed on 3-month-old C57BL/6J and APP/PS1 mice with a 12-week moderate-intensity aerobic treadmill …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

High-load resistance training is a common method for developing power, but it may interfere with adolescents' bone development, increasing the risk of epiphyseal injuries and compensatory movements. Therefore, it is crucial to investigate alternative training methods that can enhance power development while safeguarding bone health. One promising approach is unstable surface training (UST), which enhances neuromuscular coordination and core stability while reducing joint stress. Although UST has demonstrated potential benefits in other areas, its effectiveness in improving power remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the impact of UST on power development in adolescents and identify the optimal training …
