Objective: To determine which job function causes or creates a large number of Catastrophic Edit/ Data Overwrites within VHA.

Methods: The study is based on data extracted from the Catastrophic Edits Monthly Reports reported by the HC IdM Team staff on the CEs that have occurred on the MPI. Catastrophic Edits (CEs) reported by the HC IdM team between November 2011 through December 2012 are examined.

Result: Out of the 2736 Potential Identity Changes, 115 actually resulted in a CE. The number of CEs created by each job title ranged from 1% by Employee Health Clerk to 28% by Eligibility …

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Supreme Court’s related decision have significantly shifted the health care landscape for safety net providers. Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) are a mainstay of primary care for the uninsured and those with limited access to care. This paper focuses on the impact of health reform on FQHCs given the significant federal investment in them through grants, Medicaid, and Medicare reimbursement. Background: The relationship between advance directive (AD) completion and health insurance status is rarely studied.

Method: AD completion information was collected through the 2008 Nevada Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), a statewide cross-sectional telephone survey. Nevada non-institutionalized population over 18 were randomly selected as a population sample. Respondents were divided to “health care plan group” (HCPG) and “no health care plan group” (NHCPG). Demographic and behavior risk factors were also collected. Weighted multiple logistic regressions were utilized to assess the relationships between ADs, healthcare coverage and other factors.

OBJECTIVES: The nation's public health delivery system comprises nearly 3000 local public health agencies that vary widely in capabilities. Economic pressures, workforce shortages, and new national accreditation standards are leading these agencies to explore mechanisms for pooling resources to enhance delivery and improve population health.

METHODS: A longitudinal cohort design is used to analyze changes in the availability and perceived effectiveness of services delivered by local public health providers. This study took place in Puerto López, Manabí, Ecuador and focuses primarily on the level of knowledge the townspeople have about dengue and how it is transmitted. It also looks at the incidence of dengue in the town and across neighborhoods. In order to carry out this study, I spent a month living in the coastal town of Puerto López and interviewed 50 townspeople – 10 in each of the five neighborhoods of Jonas Gonzalez, Miraflores, Luís Gencón, San Alejo, and the central neighborhood. Amidst the worst disaster to impact a major U.S. city in one hundred years, New Orleans’ main trauma and safety net medical center, the Reverend Avery C. Alexander Charity Hospital, was permanently closed. Charity’s administrative operator, Louisiana State University (LSU), ordered an end to its attempted reopening by its workers and U.S. military personnel in the weeks following the August 29, 2005 storm. Drawing upon rigorous review of literature and an exhaustive analysis of primary and secondary data, this case study found that Charity Hospital was closed as a result of disaster capitalism. Unsurprisingly, the Chinese government levied a “three nos” ban—no sales, no distribution, and no promotion—against Dream of Ding Village after its publication in 2005. Though the storytelling relies heavily on dream sequences, Yan takes little poetic license when exposing the depth of the state’s culpability in spreading HIV among poor, medically-naïve farmers. He is just as uncompromising when detailing how officials denied responsibility for the ensuing AIDS epidemic, even as they profited from its human tragedy. Arlington County human services are integrated under an umbrella agency in the Department of Human Services (DHS) which administers multiple programs for the elderly and people with disabilities. These include the Older Americans Act services, Medicaid LTSS, transportation services, a nursing case management program, and mental health services for those living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
