Characterisation And Antibacterial Activity Of Green Tea Extract-Enriched Solid Goat’S Milk Soap, Uswatun Chasanah, Dian Ermawati, Dwi Putri Utami, Angela Nora Hayati

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

Solid goat’s milk soap is organic and beneficial for the health and appearance of the skin. One of the components in green tea known to display antibacterial activities is epigallocatechin gallate (ECGC). In this study, the effects of solid goat’s milk soap containing 1%, 2%, and 4% green tea extract on the growth of Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis were examined. The soap was characterized for its organoleptic, pH, free fatty acid, alkalinity, water content, foam stability, and hardness. In addition, an in vitro antimicrobial test was performed utilising the well-diffusion method. The findings revealed that all the …

Comprehensive In Silico Analysis Of Christinin Molecular Behaviour From Ziziphus Spina-Christi Leaves On Propionibacterium Acnes, Fitrianti Darusman, Taufik Muhammad Fakih

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

The role of in silico studies in the discovery of new drugs is very important and interesting in the recent years, where the results can be used as confirmation of the results of in vitro tests carried out experimentally in the laboratory. One of the herbal ingredients is Ziziphus spina-christi leaves with effective antibacterial activity, such as for acne-causing bacteria, namely Propionibacterium acnes. This is because it contains main secondary metabolites with saponins as the major components which contain christinin as its active compound. There are four known types of christinin, namely christinin-A, christinin-B, christinin-C, and christinin-D. In this …

Antibakteri Fraksi N-Heksana Kulit Hylocereus Polyrhizus Terhadap Staphylococcus Epidermidis Dan Propionibacterium Acnes, Sri Wahdaningsih, Eka Kartika Untari, Yunita Fauziah

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

Acne can be caused by Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes. By using antibiotic for the acne theraphy in a long term period can cause resistance, organ detriment and imunohypersensitivity. Red dragon fruit’s peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) is one of natural materials which can be used for alternative antibacterial. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of n-Hexane fraction of red dragon fruit’s peel against S. epidermidis dan P. acnes by the method of disc diffusion Kirby-Bauer. Red dragon fruit’s peel powder macerated within chloroform, and macerate then fractionated with n-Hexane. Phytochemical screening result red dragon fruit’s peel contains terpenoid and …

Formulasi Gel Pacar Air (Impatiens Balsamina Linn.) Terhadap Propionibacterium Acnes Dan Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Diah Ismarani, Liza Pratiwi, Indri Kusharyanti

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

Acnes vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of sebaceous follicles caused by Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis. The antibacterial activity of Impatiens balsamina L. has been studied for many years. The aims of this study are to find out the antiacne effect from methanolic extract of stems and leaves of Impatiens balsamina L. that formulated in gel. Simplicia were extracted using soxhlet technique bu using methanol as solvent. Extracts were then formulated in gel in three variations of HPMC 4000 and Carbopol 934 as gel base with ratio of 70:30 (F1), 50:50 (F2) and 30:70 (F3). The determination of antiacne …
