Intimate partner violence (IPV) affects the Latinx population disproportionately due to socioeconomic status, cultural stigma, and language barriers. However, routine screening remains inconsistent and unstandardized at a local community clinic in San Francisco’s Mission District, despite evidence-based practices recommending it. The gap in IPV screenings across the Adult, Teens, and Women’s clinics resulted in only 1.6% of patients being screened in July 2025 and 4.1% in June 2026. Problem:

The opioid crisis continues to negatively affect patient safety and healthcare outcomes across the United States. Long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) care for medically complex patients who often require prolonged pain management and are at increased risk for opioid-related adverse events. At the project site, a 32-bed LTACH, 72% of reviewed patient charts included an opioid prescription upon admission, exceeding recommended prescribing benchmarks and identifying a gap in opioid stewardship practices. The absence of a standardized opioid stewardship program (OSP) and opioid risk screening process increased the risk of opioid misuse, dependency, and adverse patient outcomes.

Nephrology referral has been recognized as a modifiable factor influencing patient outcomes (Cheng, 2025). This project aims to reduce delayed or missed CKD diagnoses at large suburban hospitals in north New Jersey by improving timely nephrology referrals. I used a mixed-methods approach, retrospective chart review, pre- and post-education surveys, and referral trend analysis to assess how an educational session affects nurse practitioner knowledge and nephrology referral behavior. Increased rural hospital closures and nursing burnout may lead to greater morbidity/mortality for rural residents. Current literature fails to capture whether rural hospital closures influence nurses’ intent to leave their current position. In this cross-sectional study, descriptive and correlational statistical analyses were conducted on survey responses from a sample of nurses who lived in a rural county that experienced a hospital closure. 66% of nurses stated that, at one point, they had considered leaving their primary nursing position.
