Stress Management For Healthcare Providers In The Emergency Department During Covid-19 Pandemic, Carrie A. Warns
Theses and Graduate Projects
The challenges healthcare providers face during the COVID-19 pandemic are
unprecedented, leading to work-related stress and burnout symptoms. Stress management for health care providers is crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare providers must find effective modalities during this time. Animal Assist therapy is a stress management modality that evidence-based research has proven to be effective. A comprehensive literature review of the importance of stress reduction for health care providers and the effectiveness of Animal Assist Therapy will help support this project. Developing A Healthy Work Environment For Radiology Nurses Through Metaphor, Anne Cords
Theses and Graduate Projects
A healthy work environment is an essential part of a nurse's professional practice. Providing nurses access to resources to understand the importance of a healthy work environment should be present in healthcare organizations. After evaluating a Radiology Department at a large hospital in the Midwest, the themes of communication, collaboration, and authentic leadership were revealed as areas to be improved upon for this work environment. Not only will these themes contribute to the workplace as well as providing effective patient care. The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments (Barden, 2005:2016) and Martha …
Creating A Culture Change Through A Unit-Based Coaching Model For Improved Effectiveness Of A Safe Patient Handling Program, Nancy Kirchner
Creating A Culture Change Through A Unit-Based Coaching Model For Improved Effectiveness Of A Safe Patient Handling Program, Nancy Kirchner
Theses and Graduate Projects
Nurses have one of the highest work-related musculoskeletal injury rates of any profession. Much research has been done to define the high-risk nature of patient handling and further to describe the necessary components of a Safe Patient Handling (SPH) program. Despite the evidence and the purchase of equipment, overall musculoskeletal injury rates remain high among nurses and nursing assistants in the United States. New strategies are needed to incorporate safe patient handling into everyday practices of healthcare providers to create a culture of safety. The purpose of this project is to develop and implement a SPH unit-based coaching metaphor and …
The Self- Caring Tree: A Model Of Nursing Self-Care, Cynthia M. Severson
The Self- Caring Tree: A Model Of Nursing Self-Care, Cynthia M. Severson
Theses and Graduate Projects
Being a nurse can be physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausting. Nurses are exposed to sickness, sadness, trauma, suffbring, terminal illnesses, and potentially harmful contagions in their daily work. Nurses tend to care for others more than they care for themselves and can become overwhelmed, lose their resilience, and burnout. Nurses who practice daily self-care benefit by experiencing greater self-esteem, resilience, and ultimately wisdom and compassion. This project focuses on the development of a self- care model for nurses to help nurses learn how to care for themselves. The model is grounded in the work of Dr. Jean Watson and her …
