Emerging advances in pediatric cardiovascular surgery have significantly decreased the mortality rates in infants born with critical congenital heart disease (CHD), in turn, leading to increasing prevalence in adolescence and adulthood. At the same time, developmental delays (DD) are on the rise among children with CHD. Recent research suggests that prolonged exposure to the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU), with its environmental stressors, negatively implicates neurodevelopment raising the question, and risk, of DD. Our plan is to improve assessment and documentation of post-procedure pulse and groin checks by improving the flow of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). By enhancing clinical documentation and improving the documentation process, nursing practice can be supported, and best patient care delivered.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine environmental stressors perceived by patients in the surgical intensive care unit and their level of satisfaction with nursing care.

Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used in this study.

Methods: This study was conducted between January 2019 and June 2019 with 120 patients who were hospitalised in the surgical intensive care unit. Data collection was via a patient information form, the Intensive Care Unit Environmental Stressor Scale (ICUESS) and the Experiences of Nursing Care Scale (ENCS) component of the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scales (NSNS).

Anxiety is a universal problem for individuals with AIDS because the disease creates uncertainty and disruptions in every aspect of their lives. Nurses have a wide variety of holistic interventions to help persons living with AIDS (PLWAs) manage anxiety. Orem’s self-care theory of nursing provides a framework for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an HIV-infected person experiencing anxiety. This article presents an overview of anxiety, the nature of anxiety in HIV-infected individuals, and psychological, pharmacological, and holistic interventions to assist the client in self-care of anxiety.
