Background: Workplace incivility significantly impacts nurses' job satisfaction and turnover intentions. However, the incivility of the patients and their family emotionally drain health care providers. Subsequently, the lack of support from one’s organisation and job dissatisfaction contribute to healthcare employee turnover.

Workplace Incivility (WI) is a well-known challenge in healthcare, with decades of mounting evidence showing the effects on workplace culture, healthcare worker retention and patient safety. The nursing workforce has become increasingly vulnerable to all stressful elements of the work environment. Introduction: Workplace incivility and bullying are concerning issues in healthcare with detrimental consequences for healthcare workers (HCW) and healthcare organizations. Organizational leaders’ recognition of incivility/bullying within healthcare organizations, and their sources, is imperative to prevent and/or address issues by creating “zero tolerance” work environments. The purpose of this cross-sectional, descriptive study was to explore HCWs’ experiences with incivility and bullying at a South Florida community hospital.

Methods: A convenience sample of HCWs at a South Florida community hospital were recruited to voluntarily complete the Nursing Incivility Scale.

Workplace Incivility, a global issue, particularly affects healthcare settings due to stressful work environments and a largely female workforce. Victims of WPI have up to 33% increased turnover, with many leaving their professions entirely. The cost of turnover, particularly within the first year, may be as high as 125% of the nurse's salary Researchers identified the need to implement measures to prevent and manage WPI. The Joint Commission (TJC) calls for requiring hospitals to implement code-of-conduct policies defining acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. The purpose of this research was to determine the perceived presence of workplace incivility among nursing faculty in associate, baccalaureate, and graduate nursing programs and whether there was a significant difference between workplace incivility behaviors, occurrence of incivility, extent of incivility, and engagement of incivility among the three groups. A convenience sample of faculty from nursing programs accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee completed the Incivility in Nursing Education-Revised (INE-R) survey. The final sample included 169 nursing faculty.
