The purpose of this study was to address the perceived and actual knowledge levels of sexually transmitted diseases (STDS) among college students at a southern university. The sample consisted of 138 participants over the age of 18 enrolled as undergraduate students at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). A questionnaire was distributed via email listserv to the undergraduate population at USM assessing the attitudes and knowledge surrounding sexually transmitted diseases. Aims: To evaluate uncertainty and health literacy in pancreatic cancer patients, examine their bivariate correlation, and determine significant predictors.

The principal intent for colorectal cancer screening is early detection and primary prevention of colorectal cancer. In spite of these intentions, there is a reluctance of the general population to participate in screening. Colorectal cancer is preventable. However, screening non-adherence contributes to both cancer mortality and incidence rates and results in expensive, unnecessary health care costs. A faith-based community nurse-driven educational session, using an American Cancer Society PowerPoint, was developed to address barriers of screening non-adherence. FMC decrease the chances of stillbirth occurrence (Tveit et al., 2009), but in other countries, research shows that women are not taught about the benefits of FMC (Berndl, O'Connel, & Mcload, 2013). Inductions of labor that occur prior to 39 weeks' gestation can pose increased risks for the mother-baby dyad. In the target setting, there is a gap in knowledge among the pregnant women about options for delivery, hospital policies and procedures, and what to expect in the labor and delivery experience. PROBLEM:

Preparing health professional students for interprofessional collaborative practice, especially at a distance where provider shortages prevail remains difficult.

APPROACH:

A two-week interprofessional education (IPE) immersion experience preparing students from 11 disciplines and four universities was implemented. Week-one, using online technology, students develop/present an interprofessional careplan for a complex patient. Students then meet face-to-face to conduct group interviews with two standardized patient dyads. Week-two, students develop a website for use of the patient dyads. Websites are presented to faculty and fellow students via an online virtual meeting space.
