Simulation-based learning is integral in preparing nursing students, especially graduate-level nurse practitioner (NP) students. Background: Preoperative anesthesia evaluations of elective procedures are important to anesthesia care and imperative to prevent postoperative complications and unnecessary surgical cancellations¹. Triaging cases are complex, requiring clinical skills to facilitate the process. Triaging is cumbersome and, in most organizations, done manually. In 2021, our healthcare institution transitioned to EPIC² and formed a team of anesthesiologists, surgeons, informaticists, and EPIC analysts to automate the triage process which was nonexistent.

This quality improvement project aimed to address the lack of standardized communication between staff and management within the behavioral health service line, as this contributed to a negative culture. This project explored if implementing standardized leadership rounds would increase nursing staff satisfaction compared non-standardized rounds. This project utilized a pre- and post- intervention survey design, with a survey consisting of 15 questions. Eleven (N=11) nurses participated in the study, completing both the pre- and post- intervention surveys. • Our team identified the lack of hand hygiene throughout the department.
• Hand washing is an important part of infection prevention, and not washing hands properly or not at all, increases the rate of infections for our patients.
