The efficiency of call bell systems throughout healthcare environments is

directly related to patient safety, satisfaction, and overall quality of care.

Delayed response times to call bells can have significant negative

consequences, such as increased falls, unmet patient needs, and decreased

confidence in the healthcare system as a whole. This paper explores the critical

role that call bells play in various healthcare settings by conducting an in-depth

review of current studies alongside original research. Surveys targeting nurses,

certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and nursing students were distributed

Background: Childhood obesity is becoming a predominant health concern with over 37 million children under the age of 5 being overweight. Instances of rapid weight gain in infancy correlate to greater risk for obesity later on in life.

Methods: This study aimed to look at feeding modality and style for their impact on maternal responsiveness to infant hunger cues and RWG. A database search identified 21 studies eligible to be included in the review out of 150.

Discussion: Key findings showed breast-feeding mothers were most responsive to hunger cues, breastfed infants expressed greater cues than their formula-fed peers, and responsive …

Background

Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures are conducted across the United States to patients that have blocked arteries resulting in the heart not receiving enough profusion to adequately function. This is an invasive, lifesaving surgery that also welcomes complications post-surgery. 1 in 8 patients will check back into the hospital at least 30 days after their CABG procedures. Readmission can be related to arrhythmias and congestive heart failure; however, most patients see respiratory complications or infection (Shawon, et al., 2021).

Purpose: To determine whether there is a documented relationship between sexual health knowledge, attitudes, and sex behaviors in students in the US.

Methods: This study conducted an expanded literature review. Multiple databases were utilized including EBSCO host academic complete search, CINAHL, and Google Scholar. Searches included the following phrases: “sexual health education”, “united states”, “sexual health knowledge”, “sex behavior”, “risk seeking behavior”, and “sex attitudes or perceptions or opinions.” Studies were included based on relevance to topic, geographical location, age group, and recency.

Purpose/Background

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a common adverse event that occurs during the recovery period following anesthesia. PONV has been reported to affect nearly 80% of patients, leading to prolonged hospitalization, increases in cost of care, patient dissatisfaction, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, acute kidney injury, and pulmonary aspiration. Certain risk factors, including obese patients, female gender, and nonsmoker status, increase the risk of PONV. Traditionally, for all patients going under anesthesia, a prophylactic antiemetic regimen is administered; however, since obese and other high-risk patients are at increased risk of experiencing PONV despite traditional regimens, anesthesia providers should administer multiple …

Purpose/Background

Social determinants of health (SDOH) have a significant impact on health outcomes. Pediatric patients with type one diabetes mellitus (T1DM) with adverse SDOH have inferior glycemic control, higher healthcare utilization, and increased risks of complications. SDOH screenings are not standard practice in pediatric T1DM care despite literature demonstrating that screening can improve outcomes. This scoping review aims to summarize existing evidence surrounding SDOH screenings and their impact on pediatric T1DM outcomes.

Methods

Research suggests a potential negative relationship between maternal anxiety and breastfeeding duration, though there is currently a gap in the existing literature regarding how maternal mental health impacts breastfeeding outcomes.

As women age, hormonal changes contribute to increased abdominal adiposity and subsequent metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease, cancers, and bone and joint problems.
