This evidence-based project seeks to answer the question, in patients who have undergone abdominal surgery, what is the effect of abdominal binders on postoperative pain? A literature review was conducted and ultimately, five peer-reviewed articles, comprised of three randomized controlled trials and two systematic reviews, were selected to answer this question. Each article studied the effect of abdominal binders using a “binder” and a “non-binder” group in patients who had undergone various types of open abdominal surgeries, including gynecological cancer excisions, cesarean deliveries, midline laparotomies, hernia repairs, and more. Using Meleis’ Transition Theory as a framework, the purpose of this descriptive correlational study was to examine specific intrapersonal factors in nursing students enrolled in clinical rotations. The convenience sample consisted of 129 BSN students with a mean age of 24. Their levels of burnout (exhaustion, cynicism and inefficacy) and psychological capital (hope, efficacy, resilience and optimism), also called PsyCap, were measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey and the Psychological Capital Questionnaire. Existing evidence displayed the benefits of utilizing ERAS protocols in various surgical procedures, including general and orthopedic cases. While nearly half of adults in the United States have hypertension, only about one quarter of those adults have adequately controlled hypertension. Providing a nurse-led coaching program in combination with home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) has been shown to improve blood pressure control. A rural family practice clinic in the Illinois Metro East area proposed a clinical trial to test a nurse-led coaching program in combination with home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) in decreasing blood pressure long-term. Sexually transmitted infections continue to be a source of significant morbidity in people with a history of incarceration, particularly women. Justice-involved women are at exceptionally high risk of long-lasting and severe health consequences of contracting an STI. This evidence-based practice implementation project used a repeated measures design to compare sexually transmitted infection knowledge acquisition and condom use self-efficacy in a group of incarcerated women before, immediately after, and three weeks following participation in the Safer Sex Self-Efficacy Workshop. The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) among Chinese young adults (CYA) aged 18-25 years ranges from 4.7% to 15.1% and has kept increasing in recent years. Previous studies reported limited awareness and knowledge of NALFD among middle-aged and older Chinese populations, however, they have not investigated awareness in CYA, for which there is no well-validated questionnaire.
