This paper examines nurse burnout in intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. The quality improvement (QI) project was conducted at the University of Louisville Hospital (ULH) in a ten bed medical intensive care unit (MICU) over the course of one month. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) survey and a demographic questionnaire were administered to nurses pre and post intervention. The intervention consisted of a uninterrupted, 30 minute work break during a nurse’s twelve hour work shift. The MBI survey was used to determine nurses’ level of burnout using three subscales; emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. A paired t-test was used …

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is 19.7% in Haiti (DeGennaro et al., 2018). Haitian American women (HAW) experience difficulties with adherence to T2DM treatment and management (Bivins, 2016; Magny-Normilus et al., 2019; Vimalananda et al., 2011; Huffman et al., 2013); however, no previous study was found that focused exclusively on Haitian American women with T2DM. Van Manen's six research activities guided this phenomenological qualitative inquiry. Recruitment included 25 Haitian American women (N = 25) with T2DM from three South Florida counties. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the health services utilization for children among migrant mothers of under-five children. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive survey approach was used for this study. The study was conducted among 320 mothers from selected migrant areas of Shivamogga District of Karnataka. As COVID-19 emerged on the world stage a challenge arose to help inform the knowledge base in home health-care nursing. Connecting current experience with the Pajarillo theory "The Nub of Nursing Information Behavior (NIB" was a first step. To provide a taxonomy of NIB, standard domain analytical tools for ontology extraction were employed using Pajarillo's text. Analysis generated frequency distributions of terms and phrases which were then sorted and disambiguated to generate a list of phenomena. Mother’s own milk (MOM) is the best source of nutrition and reduces the risk of common neonatal complications, including necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), infections resulting in late-onset sepsis, and retinopathy of prematurity (Li et al., 2017). Chronic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare and underdiagnosed complication of unresolved acute pulmonary embolism (PE). A chronic fibrotic thrombus replaces the unresolved emboli in the pulmonary vascular bed causing pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension (Mahmud et al., 2018). Symptoms rang from mild nonspecific such as exercise intolerance and dyspnea. As the disease progresses, symptoms present similarly to right ventricular heart failure (Gopalan et al., 2016). Background: Recruitment of nurse clinicians into academic nursing has been important in addressing the faculty shortage. A description of their experiences as novice faculty could provide insights into easing their transition and improving faculty retention. Method: A systematic review of existing qualitative evidence was conducted to describe how nurses experience the transition from clinical practice to nursing academic. Criteria established by the Joanna Briggs Institute guided the review. Results: The meta-synthesis of the 12 selected qualitative studies yielded 11 themes and four meta-themes, which included: Unprepared, No Longer an Expert, In Search of Mentoring, and Beginning to Thrive.
