The neurotransmitter deficiency hypothesis suggests that neurotransmitter imbalance is the physiologic cause for mental health conditions like depression and anxiety. With up to 90% of serotonin produced in the gut, it is of particular interest whether diet may influence this balance. The current research seeks to identify a connection between one’s intake of microbiome-influencing foods/beverages and mental health status. The hypothesis of the study is that participants who regularly consume greater amounts of pre/probiotic foods will have a decreased prevalence of depression and anxiety, relative to those who rarely consume pre/probiotic foods. The purpose of this mixed method study was to measure differences in perceptions of early Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) students and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with participation in a immersive interprofessional education experience. Community Health Workers (CHWs) are often incorporated into efforts to reduce health disparities for vulnerable populations. However, their voices are rarely the focus of research when considering how to increase their job effectiveness and sustainability. The current study addresses this gap by privileging the voices of 28 CHWs who work with Latinx communities in Nebraska through in-depth, semi-structured interviews. โรคซึมเศร้า (Major depressive disorder) เป็นสาเหตุของการเจ็บป่วยและการไร้ความสามารถที่สำคัญของทุกประเทศทั่วโลก ซึ่งพบได้ในประชากรทุกเพศ ทุกวัย โดยอายุที่เริ่มมีภาวะบกพร่องทางสุขภาพอยู่ในช่วงวัยผู้ใหญ่ และนับวันยิ่งจะมีจำนวนผู้ป่วยเพิ่มมากขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งส่งผลกระทบต่อตัวผู้ป่วยเองไม่ว่าจะเป็นด้านร่างกาย อารมณ์ ความคิด พฤติกรรม และยังส่งผลกระทบต่อครอบครัว สังคม เนื่องจากผู้ป่วยมีความบกพร่องในการปฏิสัมพันธ์กับบุคคลในครอบครัว เกิดความไม่เข้าใจกัน การทะเลาะเบาะแว้ง การหย่าร้าง รวมทั้งการทำหน้าต่าง ๆ ในสังคมบกพร่อง ไม่สามารถทำงานได้ ทำให้รัฐบาลต้องรับภาระในการดูแล พยาบาลจิตเวชมีบทบาทสำคัญในการพยาบาลแก่ผู้ป่วยจิตเวช ให้ความรู้ ข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการรักษา ให้คำปรึกษากับผู้ป่วยและญาติ เป็นผู้ประสานงานกับทีมสหวิชาชีพทางสุขภาพจิต และเป็นสื่อกลางระหว่างทีมผู้รักษาและญาติผู้ป่วย เตรียมความพร้อมให้กับผู้ป่วยในการดูแลตนเองเมื่อกลับบ้าน และใช้ชิวิตอยู่ในสังคมได้ ตลอดจนให้คำปรึกษาแก่ผู้ป่วยและญาติ ส่งเสริมความเข้าใจของครอบครัว โดยให้ครอบครัวมีส่วนร่วมในการดูแลประคับประคองผู้ป่วย ซึ่งเป็นส่วนสำคัญที่จะช่วยให้ผู้ป่วยหายได้เร็วขึ้น และลดอัตราการกลับมาเป็นซ้ำของผู้ป่วยได้

ผลการวิจัย: ผลการศึกษาแบ่งเป็น 3 ส่วน ได้แก่ 1) ความหมายของความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็ก เป็นกระบวนที่สะท้อนถึงการตีความและสะท้อนอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กผ่านมุมมองเชิงวัฒนธรรมของทั้งแม่ ครอบครัว และผู้ที่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องในการดูแลแม่และเด็กในชุมชน โดยถูกถ่ายทอดในรูปแบบของภาษาและใช้สื่อสารในชุมชนพบว่ามีความหมายเชื่อมโยงกัน 2) วาทกรรมความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กเป็นกระบวนการสะท้อนถึงการแสดงออกทางความคิดความเชื่อผ่านคำพูด ภาษาหรือวาทกรรม มี 2 อัตลักษณ์ คือ วาทกรรมเสริมพลังอำนาจและวาทกรรมพึ่งพา และ 3) ผลกระทบของวาทกรรมความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กเป็นภาคปฏิบัติทางสังคมวัฒนธรรมของวาทกรรมที่ทำให้เกิดการปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กที่เหมาะสม รวมทั้งการเกิดแนวทางใหม่ในการดูแลแม่และเด็กในชุมชน

สรุป: ผลการศึกษาสะท้อนให้เห็นองค์ความรู้ใหม่ที่ว่าความหมายของความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กมีความเชื่อมโยงกันเมื่อถูกสะท้อนผ่านมุมมองเชิงวัฒนธรรม และกระบวนการตีความหมายของแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กที่ถูกถ่ายทอดในรูปแบบภาษานั้นสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการผลิตสร้างวาทกรรมใหม่ที่เป็นวาทกรรมเสริมพลังอำนาจอันนำไปสู่การปรับเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมการดูแลสุขภาพของแม่ที่ดีและแนวทางในการดูแลแม่และเด็กในชุมชน ซึ่งพยาบาลและผดุงครรภ์ผู้ที่มีบทบาสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาระบบการดูแลแม่และเด็กสามารถนำใช้เป็นเครื่องมือในการเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งของชุมชนในการพัฒนาระบบการดูแลแม่และเด็กและส่งเสริมความเป็นแม่และการเลี้ยงดูเด็กอย่างเป็นระบบได้

วัตถุประสงค์การวิจัย: เพื่อพัฒนาสมรรถนะพยาบาลวิชาชีพในการประเมินภาวะหลอดเลือดดำส่วนปลายอักเสบ และผลต่อความรู้ ทักษะเกี่ยวกับการประเมินภาวะหลอดเลือดดำส่วนปลายอักเสบ ความพึงพอใจและความมั่นใจในตนเองในการใช้แบบประเมินของพยาบาลวิชาชีพ

รูปแบบการวิจัย:  เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง

วิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ พยาบาลวิชาชีพสถาบันสุขภาพเด็กแห่งชาติมหาราชินี เลือกแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง จำนวน 30 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการทดลอง คือ รูปแบบการพัฒนาสมรรถนะพยาบาลวิชาชีพในการประเมินภาวะหลอดเลือดดำส่วนปลายอักเสบในผู้ป่วยเด็ก เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้เครื่องมือ ดังนี้ 1) แบบวัดความรู้ 2) แบบวัดทักษะการประเมิน และ 3) แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจและความมั่นใจในตนเอง วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติทดสอบที

ผลการวิจัย: 1) ได้รูปแบบการพัฒนาสมรรถนะพยาบาลวิชาชีพในการประเมินฯ 2) ผลการใช้รูปแบบฯ พบว่า หลังการใช้แนวทาง 3 เดือน กลุ่มตัวอย่างมีความรู้และทักษะการประเมินสูงกว่าก่อนการอบรม อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ p < .01 ความพึงพอใจหลังการใช้แนวทาง 3 เดือน สูงกว่าหลังการอบรมอย่างไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ p=.266 ส่วนความมั่นใจในตนเอง หลังการใช้แนวทาง 3 เดือน ต่ำกว่าหลังการอบรมอย่างไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ p = .592

สรุป: รูปแบบการพัฒนาสมรรถนะมีประสิทธิภาพในการช่วยให้พยาบาลวิชาชีพมีความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาวะหลอดเลือดดำอักเสบและทักษะในการประเมินภาวะหลอดเลือดดำอักเสบส่วนปลายในผู้ป่วยเด็ก

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาประสบการณ์ชีวิตของผู้ป่วยโรคซึมเศร้าที่มีอาการสงบ

รูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแบบปรากฎการณ์วิทยาของ Husserl

วิธีการดำเนินการวิจัย: ผู้ให้ข้อมูล คือ ผู้ป่วยที่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่าป่วยเป็นโรคซึมเศร้า ที่เข้ารับการรักษาตัวแบบผู้ป่วยนอก สถาบันจิตเวชศาสตร์สมเด็จเจ้าพระยา โดยใช้เกณฑ์การคัดเลือกผู้ให้ข้อมูล แบบเจาะจง (Purposive sampling) จำนวน 10 ราย ทั้งเพศชายและหญิง ซึ่งมีคุณสมบัติตามเกณฑ์การคัดเลือก และมีคะแนนภาวะซึมเศร้า (HRSD-17) ฉบับภาษาไทยอยู่ในระดับปกติ (0-7 คะแนน) โดยมีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาค เท่ากับ 0.738 ซึ่งนำมาเพื่อคัดกรองผู้ที่มีคุณสมบัติตามเกณฑ์เท่านั้น และเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก (In-depth interview) แบบมีแนวทางการสัมภาษณ์ ร่วมกับการบันทึกเทป วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลตามวิธีของ Colaizzi

ผลการวิจัย: การศึกษาประสบการณ์ชีวิตของผู้ป่วยโรคซึมเศร้าที่มีอาการสงบ ประกอบด้วย 4 ประเด็นหลัก ดังนี้ 1) การรับรู้อาการเปลี่ยนแปลง 2) การจัดการและการดูแลตนเอง 3) เรียนรู้ที่จะปล่อยวาง ไม่คาดหวัง และ 4) มองโลกในแง่ดี

สรุป: ผลการศึกษาครั้งนี้ นำมาเป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานให้บุคลากรทางด้านสุขภาพ ปรับปรุง พัฒนาแนวทางการให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคซึมเศร้าที่อยู่ในระยะอาการสงบให้ดียิ่งขึ้น เพื่อช่วยให้ผู้ป่วยกลุ่มนี้สามารถผ่านเข้าสู่ระยะการฟื้นหายต่อไปได้

วัตถุประสงค์: 1) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความรู้และการรับรู้ความสามารถของตนเองในการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจระหว่างผู้ดูแลกลุ่มที่ได้รับโปรแกรมการเสริมพลังครอบครัวและกลุ่มที่ได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติ และ 2) เพื่อประเมินผลทักษะการประเมินระบบหัวใจและหลอดเลือดและการช่วยฟื้นคืนชีพขั้นพื้นฐานของกลุ่มทดลองภายหลังได้รับโปรแกรมการเสริมพลังครอบครัว

รูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยกึ่งทดลอง

วิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้ดูแลบุคคลในครอบครัวที่ป่วยเป็นโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจในอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดบุรีรัมย์ ซึ่งมีคุณสมบัติตามเกณฑ์การคัดเข้า โดยได้รับการจับคู่ (Matched pair) ตามเพศ  อายุ ระดับการศึกษา และใช้วิธีการสุ่มในการจัดกลุ่มเข้ากลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุม จำนวนกลุ่มละ 21 คน ผู้ดูแลในกลุ่มทดลองได้รับกิจกรรมจากการเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมการเสริมพลังครอบครัวเป็นระยะเวลา 4 สัปดาห์ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการทดลอง ประกอบด้วย โปรแกรมการเสริมพลังครอบครัวที่พัฒนามาจากแนวคิดการเสริมพลังครอบครัวของ Hulme เก็บข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบประเมินความรู้การดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจ ซึ่งมีค่าความเชื่อมั่นของคูเดอร์-ริชาร์ดสัน (KR-20) ได้เท่ากับ .79 แบบประเมินการรับรู้ความสามารถของตนเอง มีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาครอนบาค เท่ากับ .96 แบบสังเกตและประเมินผลทักษะการประเมินระบบหัวใจและหลอดเลือด และแบบประเมินการช่วยฟื้นคืนชีพขั้นพื้นฐาน มีค่าดัชนีความสอดคล้อง เท่ากับ 1 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติทดสอบที

Background and Review of Literature: Sports-related concussion (SRC) is a form of traumatic brain injury caused by a blow to the head and remains a prevalent issue across the 11-18-year-old age group within the United States. Historically, total physical and cognitive rest has been the preferred method to help individuals recover after suffering a concussion. However, recent data have shown that incorporating active rehabilitation or aerobic exercise therapy as part of acute post-concussion treatment is safe. The focus of this project utilizes patient recommendations for LGBT-inclusive intake practices to increase provider confidence in communication with LGBT patients using pre-and post-survey data comparing provider confidence before and after a 20-minute video education session. LGBT-inclusive provider education has been shown to be deficient if not nonexistent in most educational settings, yet, LGBT individuals have increased risk of negative health disparities, violence, and discrimination. This population has an increased use of urgent care clinics (UCC) for their acute and primary care needs, where they might not be screened for depression at regular intervals. Introduction: A diagnosis of severe asthma greatly impacts the physical and psychological health of children. Often experiencing increased stress, decreased physical activity, and increased exacerbations, children with severe asthma frequently exhibit poor health outcomes. Mindful yoga is a complementary health approach that may improve the physical and psychological well-being of children with severe asthma. The aims of this research were to evaluate the tolerability, feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of a mindful yoga intervention in children with severe asthma. Abstract

BACKGROUND: Oversedation in the mechanically ventilated patient can cause long- and short-term adverse side effects. Light sedation practices provide patients with relief from agitation and pain and still allows them to actively participate in care. A light sedation protocol was introduced to bedside ICU registered nurses (RNs) at the University of Kentucky Medical Center (UKMC), but deep sedation is still commonplace. Reeducating bedside RNs and increasing their knowledge and confidence is a proposed strategy for increasing adherence to light sedation protocols.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this project is to evaluate the implementation of a standardized delirium education program, delirium assessment protocol, and a standardized CAM-ICU reporting method. The goal of the project is to improve nursing delirium knowledge, CAM-ICU documentation compliance, and interdisciplinary discussion of patient’s delirium status during Multidisciplinary Rounds (MDR). Purpose: The purpose of this project was to improve the Emergency Department (ED) nurses’ knowledge on identifying patients at risk for concussions and delivering effective concussion discharge education using an educational training intervention.

Methods: This project used a descriptive, non-randomized pre-post survey design. Participation involved three stages: a pre-education survey to assess baseline concussion education knowledge, an educational intervention consisting of a narrated PowerPoint presentation, and a post-education survey to evaluate knowledge on concussion discharge education. Nurses know and understand the importance of performing hand hygiene before and after patient contact, but often compliance is subpar.
