The goal was to gain insight from the staff nurses via a qualitative survey to provide data for nurse leaders to examine common perception themes associated with implementation of bedside shift report with a standardized safety assessment. The purpose of this pilot study was to examine if the application of the flipped classroom teaching method versus traditional lecture in new hire hospital nursing orientation played a role in practicing nurses’ self-confidence to competently practice at the patient’s bedside. By exploring two different teaching methods in orientation, a correlation would be determined to recognize self-confidence levels with the nurse’s ability to use policy, procedure, and equipment when responding to a medical emergency in a new facility. Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to infection, which is a life-threatening medical emergency and must be treated promptly. Emergency Department (ED) registered nurses are at the frontlines of patient treatment, requiring them to be educated on the most recent guidelines and protocols when it comes to early sepsis identification. This study implemented educational sessions on early identification and initiation of treatment in sepsis for the ED nurse population to improve their overall confidence in identifying potentially septic patients. It was found that the education sessions increased the nursing staff who participated overall confidence in early identification of sepsis patients.

This study was to determine the effects of active participation and education of caregivers on the pain experienced by their hospitalized children, the anxiety of the caregivers, and the working efficiency of nurses when administering peripheral intravenous (IV) injections to their children. It was found IV injections were the most feared procedures experienced by inpatient pediatric patients. A quasi-experimental design used in which different types of treatment were given to subjects in three groups. Objectives: Harmful alcohol consumption is associated with considerable social and economic damage to individuals and society. Because gender and ethnic background influence alcohol intake differently, examining gender specific factors influencing harmful drinking is necessary. This study investigated gender differences in alcohol consumption, harmful drinking, and the associated factors among Korean adults. Methods: We analyzed the data from the 2012–2015 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Data from survey participants aged 20–64 years (N = 18,581) were included. Elderly health care needs increase and nurses' role for elderlies is vital. It is significant to identify nursing students' intention to care for elderlies. Thus, this study investigated nursing students’ willingness to care for elderlies in Korea and the United States.

Methods

The study was conducted with 437 undergraduate nursing students from Korea and the United States from May 25 to 31, 2018. Participants completed a survey including frequency and quality of contact, anxiety about aging, empathy, attitude toward elderly, and willingness to care.

The purpose of our study was to determine if an undergraduate perioperative nursing elective influenced the career choices of nurses four to nine years after they graduated from a baccalaureate nursing program in the midwestern United States. Low participation in challenging the Clinical Ladder within the Perioperative Surgical Services was observed. The period 2016-2017, only five nurses from the department challenged and were successful on the ladder. As a process improvement initiative, the department implemented CLEPPS, using the organization’s clinical ladder program as a tool.

Background: Exposure to childhood trauma have lifelong consequences effecting the health and well-being of the individuals who experienced or witnessed the trauma. As healthcare providers, we must recognize patients who have been exposed to trauma and ensure that it is responded to appropriately. This approach is known as trauma informed care.

Objective: The purpose of this quality improvement project was to increase knowledge, opinion, and self-rated competence related to trauma informed care through the use of an educational intervention.
