Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are evidence-based multimodal pathways that optimize the perioperative care of patients undergoing complex surgeries. The goal is to promote acute recovery as demonstrated by decreased length of stay (LOS) with no negative impact on the complication or readmission incidence. There is limited adoption of ERAS protocols for major pancreatic surgeries such as pancreaticoduodenectomy (i.e., Whipple surgery).

Objective: Pediatric burns are costly and traumatic injuries; however, increased education may reduce the prevalence. The purpose of this study was to determine pediatric primary care providers’ awareness of the pervasiveness of pediatric burns and discern if specific education is done at office visits. Methods: Eighteen providers participated in an education session regarding pediatric burns and took a pre-test and post-test. Results were analyzed to determine if the education led to an increase in provider knowledge of burns as well as in increase in motivation to educate their patients. This study measured the positive and negative aspects of perceptions in nurses regarding technology used in language interpretation for patients who have limited English proficiency (LEP). A sample of forty-seven nurses participated in the study. A trial of Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) was implemented and perceptions were measured for VRI technology as compared to the telephone interpretation technology that was available before the trial. Instrumentation included demographic questionnaires measuring participant characteristics, and questionnaires measuring positive and negative perceptions of technology were administered pre-trial for telephone interpretation technology and post-trial for the VRI technology. The purpose of this secondary data analysis was to identify potential psychosocial predictors of cognition, including social support, depression, and functional activity, among older African Americans, ≥ 65 years, with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and living in congregate residential settings. Guided by the main effect model of social support, this study used existing data from the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center Uniform Data Set, an NIH-funded multicenter study. Results showed that on average, the participants (n=56) were 81.7 years of age with 13.8 years of education. All, but six, were married. This cross-sectional survey research aims to explore and compare the relationship of religion, religiosity, and parental communication to the sexual behaviors of Filipinos aged 18-25 years in the United States and the Philippines. The Duke University Religion Index and Parent-Teen Sexual Risk Communication Scale-III was used to measure religiosity and parental communication. There were 130 participants living in the United States and 247 living in the Philippines included in this study. Methods: A review of the literature from 2012 to 2017 was conducted using a computerized search using Cumulative Index to Nursing and Health Literature (CINAHL) and PsycInfo.
