The purpose of this project was to test the performance of albumin, NRI and MUST screening tools in comparison to the standardized measure of prealbumin among HF patients admitted to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Inclusion criteria included all HF patients with the 428 diagnostic code, admitted from January 1, - December 31, 2013, ages 18 and older, with all laboratory values available specified in the data collection tool (Appendix A). Problem: Heart failure is the most frequent cause for hospital readmissions in Medicare recipients, with an estimated annual cost of $12 billion. Heart failure hospitalizations are also an independent risk factor for increased mortality. Self-care, thought to be enhanced by perceived social support, is key to managing this syndrome, and up to 50% of readmissions are considered the result of inadequate self-care. These symptoms, which occur in up to 70% of perimenopausal women, can negatively impact quality of life. Economic pressures and the challenge to maintain competitive advantage have resulted in many health-care entities requiring their practitioners to contractually enter into noncompete clauses (NCCs). Many student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are unaware of NCCs in employee contracts.

An anonymous, web-based questionnaire regard-ing NCCs was distributed to SRNAs and CRNAs nation-wide. Of 242 practicing CRNAs who responded, 147 (60.7%) were employed without a noncompete clause and 22 (9.1%) were unaware whether they had such a provision in their employment contracts. The knowledge level of the nurse anesthetist respondents was low (average score of 55.3%). …

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์และปัจจัยทำนายการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรสของสตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่น\n\nรูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยแบบความสัมพันธ์เชิงทำนาย\n \nวิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ สตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่น ครรภ์แรก อายุระหว่าง 10-19 ปี ที่อาศัยอยู่กับสามี มารับบริการฝากครรภ์ที่หน่วยฝากครรภ์ โรงพยาบาลศิริราช จำนวน 145 ราย รวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้ แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล แบบสอบถามความรู้สึกมีคุณค่าในตนเอง แบบสอบถามการรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคม และแบบสอบถามการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรส ตรวจสอบความเที่ยงของแบบสอบถามทั้งสามด้วยการหาค่าสัมประสิทธิ์อัลฟ่าของครอนบาค ได้ค่าเท่ากับ .76, .82 และ .78 ตามลำดับ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงบรรยาย สถิติอีต้า สถิติสหสัมพันธ์สเปียร์แมน สถิติสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ของเพียร์สัน และสถิติถดถอยพหุคูณแบบขั้นตอน\n \nผลการวิจัย: 1) สตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่นมีการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรสอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง (x̄ = 64.86, SD = 13.36) 2) ปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกกับการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรสในสตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ.05 ได้แก่ ความรู้สึกมีคุณค่าในตนเอง (r = .357) การรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคม (r = .349) และความเพียงพอของรายได้ครอบครัว (η = .303) ทั้งนี้ อายุ ระดับการศึกษา และลักษณะครอบครัว ไม่มีความสัมพันธ์กับการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรส (r = .036 , r = .012 และ η = .005 ตามลำดับ) 3) ปัจจัยทำนายการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรสในสตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่น ได้แก่ ความรู้สึกมีคุณค่าในตนเอง ( β = .275) การรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคม ( β = .264) และความเพียงพอของรายได้ครอบครัว (β = .254) โดยสามารถร่วมกันอธิบายความแปรปรวนของการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรสในสตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่นได้ร้อยละ 26.8 (R2 =.268) ที่ระดับนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ .05\n\nสรุป: ปัจจัยทำนายการปรับตัวในชีวิตสมรสในสตรีตั้งครรภ์วัยรุ่น คือ …

The purpose of this project was to develop evidence-based policies and practice guidelines to reduce polypharmacy in elderly patients in a rural outpatient psychiatric clinic. Problem: Difficult conversations and decisions are an unfortunate reality for parents caring for children facing life threatening conditions. Confusing, inadequate, and inconsistent communication by health care providers makes advance care planning difficult in pediatrics.
Design: A mixed methods design was utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of an advance care planning conversation tool, Go Wish- Pediatrics, on the emotional resources and distress experienced by parents caring for children in palliative care.

The purpose of this study was to explore registered nurses’ understanding and practice of “independent double-checks” prior to administration of high-alert medications. The study used a qualitative descriptive design for data collection and data analysis. It included thirteen participants from a hospital located in southern New Hampshire. Results of the study revealed a core theme of navigating independent double checks (IDC) for safer care. Two major themes stemming from the core theme were also uncovered. The objective of this study is to explore patient experiences of bedpan use in order to define their perceptions of comfort levels. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study is to describe men’s experiences of depression in order to provide direction for future research of the screening, diagnosing, and treatment of men's depression. Previous research indicates that men experience different depressive symptoms than women, and there is a possibility that men's depression is not being adequately captured by current screening standards, which would theoretically lead to a large number of men with unrecognized, undiagnosed, and untreated depression. This descriptive study summarized data from a child advocacy center to illustrate how such information might be used to profile the scope and character of child sexual abuse (CSA) at the community level. This detailed information is not available from national or state data but is needed to understand the circumstances of the children receiving services and the type of care they may need. Data for this cross-sectional study was collected using a paper survey developed by the researcher.
