Sexually active young men are at high risk of contracting HPV and developing genital warts and penile/anal cancers. They contribute significantly to the incidence of HPV in women. The HPV vaccine, Gardasil, was approved in 2009 for use in preventing HPV 6 and 11 in young males ages 9 to 26. Knowledge and awareness of the virus and the vaccine is limited among young men. Promoting education and prevention measures regarding HPV and reducing personal risks to HPV is significant in narrowing the gap between acquisition of the HPV virus and cancer sequelae. Asthma and overweight are two of the most common chronic health problems in children. Data support a relationship between the two health issues. Although asthma is one of the top reasons for hospital admission for children, little is known about the prevalence of overweight and obesity or clinical practice related to weight in children hospitalized for asthma. Background—This trial tested the effects of multidisciplinary group clinic appointments on the primary outcome of time to first heart failure (HF) rehospitalization or death.

Methods and Results—HF patients (n=198) were randomly assigned to standard care or standard care plus multidisciplinary group clinics. The group intervention consisted of 4 weekly clinic appointments and 1 booster clinic at month 6, where multidisciplinary professionals engaged patients in HF self-management skills. Data were collected prospectively for 12 months beginning after completion of the first 4 group clinic appointments (2 months post randomization). BACKGROUND: Although an emphasis has been placed on protecting patients by improving health care worker compliance with infection control techniques, challenges associated with patient isolation do exist. To address these issues, a more consistent mechanism to evaluate specific clinical behaviors safely is needed.

METHODS: The research method described in this study used a high fidelity simulation using a live standardized patient recorded by small cameras. Immediately after the simulation experience, nurses were asked to view and comment on their performance. Type 2 diabetes has increased dramatically in the pediatric population in the last decade. One of the comorbidities of diabetes is depression. In the presence of depression, diabetes may be mismanaged by patients and lead to a decline in health. Diabetes with comorbid depression may have better disease management outcomes in the presence of higher levels of social support. Defining childhood depression, which encompasses adolescence, and the subtleties of this disorder compared to the adult counterpart, was needed to better delineate important variables for this research study. Background: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rapidly progressive disease. There is currently no cure; thus treatment is aimed at prolonging survival, improving functional status (FS), and symptom mitigation. Symptom burden (SB) can impact quality of life (QOL), and lead to increased healthcare utilization. Palliative care (PC) has been associated with higher QOL, decreased depression, aggressive care, and mortality. The Institute of Medicine's (IOM) recent report supports earlier integration of PC for people living with serious illness. The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients aged 40-65 years, who are admitted for stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA) for the first time and who receive enhanced stroke discharge education have higher levels of education retention than patients aged 40-65 years who are admitted for stroke/TIA for the first time who receive standard stroke discharge education without the enhancement. Forty male and female participants were randomly placed into either a standard discharge education N=20 or enhanced discharge education group: N=20. This randomized controlled trial feasibility study tested the effectiveness of an iPad® application (app) social script intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) going to imaging and their parent (n = 32 parent/child dyads). Parents of the children exposed to the app (n = 16) had lower state anxiety compared to the parents whose children were not exposed to the app (n = 16) (effect size 0.33). Children exposed to the app had fewer externalized challenging behaviors than the control group (effect size 0.56). The results demonstrate feasibility and efficacy of the intervention. Background—

Access site hematomas and pseudoaneurysms are the most frequent complications of peripheral vascular intervention (PVI); however, their incidence and risk factors remain unclear.

Methods and Results—

We retrospectively analyzed data from the multicenter Vascular Quality Initiative on 22 226 patients who underwent 27 048 PVI from August 2007 to May 2013. Primary end points included incidence and predictors of access site complications (ASCs), length of postprocedural hospitalization, discharge status, and 30-day and 1-year mortality. ASC complicated 936 procedures (3.5%). Of these, 74.4% were minor complications, 9.7% were moderate requiring transfusion, 5.4% were moderate requiring thrombin injection, and 10.5% were …
