Crossing The Line: Experiences Of The Formerly Homeless Living Past Homelessness, Susan Marie Bennett Dnsc, Msn, Fnp, Rn, Cs

This grounded theory study explored the experiences of formerly homeless individuals and families who have moved from homelessness into stable housing. This was an ethnographic study and involved the researcher staying in an east coast shelter where some of the formerly homeless participants had become staff members and reside. Data analysis was informed by dimensional analysis. Moving out of homelessness was the studies perspective. Findings of the study revealed the following dimensions that related the formerly homeless's experiences: (a)reacting to circumstances, or how they became homeless; (b)surviving as homeless, or how they lived while homeless; (c)crossing the fine, or what …

การทำแท้งในสังคมไทยเป็นการกระทําที่ไม่ได้รับการยอมรับทั้งทางกฎหมาย ศีลธรรม และ ทางสังคม แต่มีหญิงตั้งครรภ์จำนวนมากลักลอบทำแท้งโดยยอมเสี่ยงอันตรายต่อชีวิต เสี่ยงต่อการถูก \nจับและเสี่ยงต่อการถูกประณามจากสังคม การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อหาคำอธิบายเกี่ยวกับเงื่อนไขที่นําไปสู่การตั้งครรภ์ไม่พึงปรารถนาและกระบวนการตัดสินใจทำแท้ง วิธีการศึกษาใช้การสัมภาษณ์ ระดับลึกจากหญิงตั้งครรภ์ จำนวน 58 ราย เป็นหญิงที่ตัดสินใจทำแท้ง 38 ราย และหญิงที่ ตัดสินใจตั้งครรภ์ต่อไป 20 ราย ผลการศึกษาโดยสรุป ค่านิยมและบรรทัดฐานทางสังคมไทยในเรื่อง มาตรฐานซ้อนทางเพศและความสัมพันธ์ทางเพศที่ไม่เสมอภาคระหว่างชายหญิง เป็นเงื่อนไขสำคัญ นำไปสู่การตั้งครรภ์ไม่พึงปรารถนา หากผู้หญิงพิจารณาแล้วว่าการตั้งครรภ์ที่เกิดขึ้นจะส่งผลกระทบต่อ ชีวิตให้ได้รับความเสียหายมากกว่าผลดี ผู้หญิงมีแนวโน้มที่จะตัดสินใจเลือกทำแท้งมากกว่าตั้งครรภ์ต่อไป

Objective: To compare advanced practice nurses' (APNs) and physicians' (MDs) domestic violence screening behaviors, perceived obstacles, and knowledge base so as to determine the efficacy of the collaborative practice model of care. Design: The survey questionnaires were the "Nurse Practitioners' Experience with Partner Abuse in Alaska" and the "Physicians' Experience with Partner Abuse in Alaska". Significant differences were evaluated by using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Setting: Two 200-300 bed urban HMO medical centers. Participants: Thirty-five providers (23 MDs and 12 APNs) with the mean age of 40, and with 8 years clinical practice in California. Results: Of total providers, …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสุขสมบูรณ์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาล วิทยาลัยพยาบาล สังกัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข หาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการดำเนินการด้านกิจการนักศึกษา และด้าน สภาพแวดล้อมของวิทยาลัยกับความสุขสมบูรณ์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลและศึกษาตัวแปรที่ร่วมกันพยากรณ์ ความสุขสมบูรณ์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาล กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นนักศึกษาพยาบาลจำนวน 604 คน ได้จากการ สุ่มแบบชั้นภูมิ เครื่องมือในการวิจัยคือ แบบสอบถามการดําเนินการด้านกิจการนักศึกษา แบบสอบถาม สภาพแวดล้อมของวิทยาลัย และแบบวัดความสุขสมบูรณ์ของนักศึกษา ได้รับข้อมูลในการวิเคราะห์ ร้อยละ 97.85 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการวิเคราะห์ถดถอยพหุคูณ \nผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ ค่าเฉลี่ยของคะแนนความสุขสมบูรณ์โดยรวมและรายด้านของนักศึกษา พยาบาลอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง งานวินัยนักศึกษา งานกิจกรรมนักศึกษา งานบริการหอพักนักศึกษา สภาพแวดล้อมที่มีชีวิต สภาพแวดล้อมที่ไม่มีชีวิต และสภาพทางจิตสังคม มีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวก กับความสุขสมบูรณ์โดยรวมของนักศึกษาพยาบาลอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01 ตัวแปรที่ร่วม กันพยากรณ์ความสุขสมบูรณ์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลได้อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติมีความสำคัญตาม ลำดับดังนี้ สภาพแวดล้อมทางจิตสังคม และสภาพแวดล้อมที่มีชีวิต โดยร่วมกันพยากรณ์ ความสุข สมบูรณ์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลได้ร้อยละ 11.70

The purpose was to explore perceptions of pregnant and parenting substance abusing women in an outpatient drug treatment program regarding provider and social support. Also identified were aspects of the rehabilitation program perceived by the women as assisting them to maintain abstinence from substance use. Data were collected through a demographic questionnaire and a tool designed by the authors based on the Social Stress Model of Substance Abuse (Lindenberg, Gendrop, & Reiskin, 1993) and the literature of social support. Elderly trauma patients often experience prolonged hospital stays. This study was done to determine if a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care would decrease hospital length of stay (LOS) for elderly trauma patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Using a descriptive, correlational design, a convenience sample of 74 elderly patients aged 65 to 99 years was obtained from a trauma registry. The hypothesis that hospital LOS decreases for elderly trauma patients in the ICU who have a team approach to care was not supported using the t-test for independent means (t=1.6, df=72, p=.114). Thirty-two first-year nursing students enrolled in a first semester nursing fundamentals class at a local community college participated in a study that compared three test score grades between nursing students who studied with a partner(s) and those who studied alone. Four types of study groups were identified from a questionnaire by having students indicate whether they studied alone or with a partner(s) in-preparation for each of the three tests. Perception of birth is an important consideration for all health care providers. A positive perception of birth can promote effective adaptation to the maternal role. The Roy Adaptation Model guided this research study comparing the perception of birth among women who delivered vaginally, by planned cesarean birth, and by unplanned cesarean birth.

Perception of birth was measured by the use of a 29 item questionnaire developed by Marut and Mercer and completed by 78 subjects two to four weeks postpartum. The ANOVA and post hoc Scheffe tests were used to measure the differences between groups.

This study examined the relationship between three instruments used in measuring tympanic, axillary, and rectal temperatures in infants less than 1 year of age. Temperatures were measured by Oto-temp Pedi Q tympanic thermometers, Becton Dickinson axillary thermometer, and rectal thermometers. A convience sample of 5 infants less than 90 day and 54 greater than 90 days with fever, as well as 34 infants less than 90 days and 27 infants greater than 90 days without fever were studied. King’s conceptual framework was used to examine the relationship between nurses’ stated beliefs of goals of pain management, their personal experience of pain, and their educational levels when choosing to intervene in the management of pain for pediatric patients. A descriptive correlational design was used with a convenience sample of 51 registered nurses in a West Michigan children’s hospital.

Many nurses are not familiar with the highly technical language of research and the types of graphics that researchers use to communicate findings, creating a major barrier to research utilization in nursing. In an effort to find alternative approaches to displaying research results, W.G. Cole introduced "metaphor graphics" a decade ago as a way of graphically representing knowledge. He proposed that data be summarized using visual metaphors - i.e., abstract signs and symbols - to show patterns and convey meaning. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between anxiety and anger with depression in women with heart disease. A sample of 50 women participating in cardiac rehabilitation programs in Charleston, WV and Huntington, WV was used to evaluate the inter-relationship of suppressed, expressed, state and trait anger, state and trait anxiety and depression. This non-experimental, descriptive designed study was evaluated by using multiple linear regression and regression coefficients analyzed for the anger and anxiety scores and their interaction. Relationship Between Number Of Prenatal Visits And Infant Apgar Scores, Sarah Pernie

This retrospective chart review examined the relationship between the number of prenatal visits and infant apgar scores and compared infant apgar scores among women who received inadequate, intermediate and adequate prenatal care according to Kessner's classification. Quota sampling was used to identify 30 individuals in each category of prenatal care.

The sample (N=90) consisted of women who delivered their babies at a hospital in a large Midwestern city. Neuman's Systems Model provided the framework for the study.

The findings indicate that there is a positive relationship between the number of prenatal visits and infant apgar scores (r=.33, p=.002) and that …
