The purpose of this study was to identify ADN faculty and ADN student perceptions of the most effective clinical teaching characteristics (ECTC). An exploratory, descriptive design was implemented. ADN faculty and ADN students were surveyed using the Clinical Teacher Characteristics Instrument (CTCI). The CTCI consists of 20 characteristics of clinical teachers that are ranked on a five point Likert-type scale according to importance. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Significant differences in perceptions of the most ECTC between the two groups were identified by a Mann Whitney U procedure. A t-test was performed to identify differences of perceptions …

This paper describes some theoretical perspectives of spirituality, the concepts of spiritual care and spiritual needs, and barriers to providing spiritual care as described in the literature. The two most frequently described barriers are lack of comfort with the topic and lack of education. Because there is so little written about the discussion of spirituality in schools of nursing, a descriptive study using nursing students on the central coast of California was conducted. Background/Objective:

To prepare for a culture change to integrate research utilization into daily nursing practice, the authors conducted a descriptive survey of all registered nurses (RNs) in an integrated healthcare delivery system. The purposes of this study were to assess RNs' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of nursing research activities, assess factors that support a research environment, and determine facilitating and challenging factors related to conducting regional nursing research.

Research shows that high self-esteem is significantly related to resistance to group pressures, willingness to express unpopular opinions, family adjustment, creativity, and effective communication between parents and youth. The purpose of this research was to determine if a pain management class improved nurses' knowledge and influenced nurses' attitudes regarding pain management. The design was quasi-experimental using pretest-posttest intervention. 83 participants completed the Nurses Knowledge and Attitude Survey Regarding Pain twice. Those who attended a class showed improvement in their pain management knowledge and attitude scores on the survey. Implications for staff development and inservice educators are that continuing education increases nurses knowledge about pain management and must include opportunities for class members to apply concepts.

Classroom Instructional Assistants are being used more frequently to provide care for medically fragile children who are mainstreamed into the regular education setting. The purpose of this evaluative study was to develop a beginning health curriculum that could be provided as an inservice program for classroom Instructional Assistants. Content for the inservice consisted of handwashing, medication administration, asthma, and seizures. This study used a pretest and posttest design to look at the effectiveness of the educational inservice. There were 17 participants, 16 of whom completed the pretest and posttest. To identify an effective medium for communicating with adolescents in a large-scale, cost-effective violence prevention program.

A set of youth violence prevention programs was established at The Stamford Hospital, a level II trauma center. The traveling version of the program was presented to middle school students in four parts: 1) a rap music video created by our violence prevention staff, 2) a facilitated discussion about dealing with anger, 3) a video of a trauma resuscitation in our emergency department, and 4) a commercial video of a teenage boy paralyzed after a gunshot wound. In 1992, Bosnian Serbian and Serbian forces launched a campaign of genocide against Muslim and Croatian civilians in Bosnia-Herzegovina. This nightmarish odyssey ended for many non-Serbians when they escaped to other countries. Many of these families chose to come to the United States.

The purpose of this study was to examine the lived experience of Bosnian refugees who suffered as a result of genocide. The research method used for this study was a phenomenological method based on Husserlian philosophy. Patient And Care Giver Perceptions Of Cancer Pain Control, Patricia Rushton, Sherry Brown

PURPOSE: This study measured the perceptions of Utah cancer patients and cargivers concerning knowledge about and adequacy of pharmacologic cancer pain control. METHODS: A descriptive survey was used. Questionnaires were sent to cancer patients and caregivers surveying their knowledge about and perceptions of the adequacy of pharmacologic cancer pain control. RESULTS: The study had a 52% response rate (259 of 500). Eighty five percent (219 of 259) of the respondents stated they had no cancer pain. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Cancer literature indicated that much cancer pain is not effectively controlled. The majority of the respondents of this study reported no pain. …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการบริหารการพยาบาลของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยในยุคภาวะวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ โรงพยาบาลศูนย์ ในด้านการวางแผน การจัดระบบงาน การอํานวยการ และ การควบคุมงาน เปรียบเทียบการบริหารการพยาบาลของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยในยุคภาวะวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ โรงพยาบาลศูนย์ จําแนกตามระดับการศึกษา ประสบการณ์ในตำแหน่งบริหาร การได้รับการอบรม ทางการบริหาร และภาวะผู้นำของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วย กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือ หัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยโรงพยาบาล ศูนย์ 14 แห่ง จำนวน 287 คน ตอบแบบสอบถามการบริหารการพยาบาลของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยใน ยุคภาวะวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ และพยาบาลวิชาชีพ จำนวน 861 คน ซึ่งเป็นผู้ใต้บังคับบัญชาของหัวหน้า หอผู้ป่วย ดังกล่าวมาอย่างน้อย 1 ปี ตอบแบบสอบถามภาวะผู้นำของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วย เลือกกลุ่ม ตัวอย่างโดยวิธี การสุ่มแบบแบ่งชั้นภูมิ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย เป็นแบบสอบถามการบริหาร การพยาบาลของ หัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยในยุคภาวะวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ และแบบสอบถามภาวะผู้นำของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยที่ผ่านการทดสอบความตรงตามเนื้อหา และทดสอบความเที่ยงด้วยวิธีของครอนบาค มีค่าความเที่ยง 98 และ 96 ตามลำดับ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยหาค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบน มาตรฐาน สถิติทดสอบเอฟ สถิติทดสอบที และสถิติทดสอบครุสคัล-วอลลิส ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การบริหารการพยาบาลของหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยในยุคภาวะวิกฤติเศรษฐกิจ ในด้านการวางแผน การ จัดระบบงาน การอำนวยการ และการ ควบคุม ต้องคำนึงถึงคุณภาพการบริการพยาบาล การประหยัด ลดค่าใช้จ่าย เพิ่มรายได้ มีประสิทธิภาพ ประสิทธิผล ใช้ทรัพยากรให้คุ้มค่า คำนึงถึงความจำเป็น เป็นหลัก การบริหารการพยาบาลของหัวหน้า หอผู้ป่วยในยุคภาวะวิกฤติเศรษฐกิจโดยรวม อยู่ใน ระดับมาก เมื่อจำแนกเป็นรายด้านพบว่า ด้านการ วางแผน การจัดระบบงาน การอำนวยการ และ การควบคุมงาน อยู่ในระดับมากเช่นกัน หัวหน้าหอ ผู้ป่วยที่มีระดับการศึกษาสูงกว่าปริญญาตรี ปฏิบัติการบริหารการพยาบาลในยุคภาวะวิกฤต เศรษฐกิจมากกว่าหัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วยที่มีระดับการ ศึกษาต่ำกว่าปริญญาตรี และแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัย สำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 หัวหน้าหอผู้ป่วย จำแนกตามประสบการณ์ในตำแหน่งบริหาร การได้รับ การอบรมทางการบริหาร และระดับภาวะ ผู้นำที่แตกต่างกัน ปฏิบัติการบริหารการพยาบาลในยุคภาวะ วิกฤตเศรษฐกิจไม่แตกต่างกัน

The chronicity of the treatment requires the family to adjust their daily routines to care for the ill child. Literature and statistics show that the number of new HIV infections continue to increase, despite the fact that the transmission of the disease is preventable. The purpose of this quantitative descriptive study was to determine the health perceptions of children with a convenience sample of fourth-grade students at a small elementary school in Northeast Mississippi. The theoretical framework utilized was Bandura's Social Learning Theory. The directional hypothesis in the proposed study was school-age children have a positive perception of health. The purpose of this descriptive study was to determine the exercise prescriptive practices and perspectives of adult, family, and gerontological nurse practitioners in Mississippi compared to an international Internet study.
