Academic nurse leaders hold an essential role in preparing future nurses who have the skills and abilities to meet complex healthcare system. However, vacancies in academic leadership positions are on the rise and may be connected to faculty incivility which affects job satisfaction of academic nurse leaders. The purpose of this descriptive correlational study, guided by Herzberg's two-factor theory, was to explore the relationships between perceptions of and experiences with faculty incivility and job satisfaction in a population of academic nurse leaders. Leader perceptions of and experiences with faculty incivility were measured using the Workplace Civility/Incivility Survey and leader job …
Advanced-Beginner Registered Nurses' Perceptions On Growth From Entry Level, Brenda Mason
Advanced-Beginner Registered Nurses' Perceptions On Growth From Entry Level, Brenda Mason
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Many entry-level nurses are not prepared to handle medical emergencies. Although responsible for managing the care of individuals with complex medical conditions, many of these nurses compromise the safety of patients due to a lack of experience and an inability to apply clinical judgment. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of registered nurses about their transition from entry-level to advanced beginner. Bandura's social cognitive theory, along with Colaizzi's descriptive method of data analysis, provided a basis for this phenomenological study. Research questions focused on challenges that entry-level nurses have experienced with problem-solving and complex patient care …

Policy Addressing Family Presence During Resuscitation, Crystal Emanuel-Hayes
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
When hospitals became the primary care setting for very ill patients, visiting hours and restrictions related to family presence during resuscitation (FPDR) became common. During medical crises that occur in hospital settings, families are separated from loved ones because family members may impair resuscitation efforts or such efforts might psychologically traumatize family members. Various national health care organizations have endorsed family presence during resuscitation; however, practices preventing family presence persist. This project used evidence from the peer-reviewed literature to develop a healthcare institution policy that addresses family presence during resuscitation. Theories, concepts, and models that guided this DNP project included: …
