Adverse mental health outcomes comprise the leading complication of type 1 diabetes(TID)in children and adolescents(Cameron & Northam, 2012). Comorbid mental health conditions lead to decreased adherence, worsening glycemic control, increased family conflict, poor self-image, and decreased quality of life(QOL). Background: Fibromyalgia has an estimated prevalence of 2% of the United States population, with a greater estimated prevalence among women (3.4%) than with men (0.5%). In addition to widespread pain, fibromyalgia symptoms include fatigue, headache, sleep disturbance, anxiety, depression, memory problems, and numbness/tingling sensations. If the condition remains untreated or is poorly managed, then fibromyalgia can present problems among individuals, families, and communities. The lack in fibromyalgia screening processes at a Midwest Pain Clinic presented opportunity for the project.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) consists of several complex neurodevelopmental conditions that include deficits in communication, social functioning, and specific repetitive behaviors (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Based on the services that they receive, parents’ perceptions of care for children with ASD elicit both positive and negative overall experiences during their pediatric outpatient clinic visits. Literature suggests caregivers identify PCP and clinic personnel’s lack of understanding or compassion for a child with ASD as a barrier. Background: Inappropriate antibiotic prescribing is common in outpatient settings across the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found in studies that nearly 1 in 3 antibiotics prescribed at outpatient facilities is unnecessary. The misuse and overuse of antibiotics is accelerating the process of antibiotic resistance, as well as causing an increase in adverse events, including death. The literature indicates that knowledge plays a major factor in overprescribing, as well as provider attitude and patient expectations.
