The purpose of this study was to examine the needs of the home health client as perceived by the client, the primary family caregiver, and the primary home health nurse case manager. An ex post facto design was used to examine the effects exhibited at the site of injection by elderly diabetics who reused disposable insulin syringes and those who do not reuse syringes. The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between perceived touch and self-concept in elders. Johnson's Behavioral Model provided the theoretical framework for this descriptive correlational study. Thirty subjects, who were 60 years or older, and lived in either a nursing home, a retirement home, or an independent living center participated in this study. Data were collected using the Touch Questionnaire and the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale and were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation. This descriptive correlational study purported to ascertain the relationships among self-esteem, blame and guilt, and sexuality of infertile young adult women, and to explore the basis for the study the Roy Adaptation Model (1976) was utilized. The convenience sample was comprised of 31 infertile women with diverse conditions who had undergone medical treatments for at least one year. The Infertility Questionnaire (IFQ) of Bernstein, Potts, and Mattox (1985) and researcher-developed questions were used in data collection to assess adaptation of the women to infertility. The purpose of this correlational study was to deter mine the relationship of alcohol abuse and achievement developmental tasks in college-age students. Alcohol abuse is defined by four or more drinks at least 3 or more times a week. Developmental tasks for college students consists of three primary tasks: clarifying purpose, mature inter personal relationships, and academic autonomy. The purpose of this quantitative and qualitative descriptive study was to examine the differences in mental status at morning and evening hours of the day among elderly nursing home residents and to describe behaviors and environmental cues associated with changes in mental status. Residents, aged 70 to 90 years who were mobile, were selected from a sample of convenience at a 100-bed rural nursing home in West Central Alabama. This descriptive correlational study assessed the perceived spiritual and psychological well-being of bereaved parents. Spiritual well-being was measured by the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWB) and psychological well-being was measured by the Psychological General Well-Being (PGWB) Index. The sample consisted of 30 participants from three bereaved parent support groups located in North Alabama. The research hypothesis stated there would be a positive correlation between spiritual well-being and psychological well-being in bereaved parents. The purpose of this study was to determine which power strategies nurse clinicians utilize in resolving conflict with physicians. A sample of 50 nurse clinicians were surveyed using the Modified Offermann and Schrier Tool. The data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. Findings indicate that the most frequently used strategy for conflict resolution is direct, rational power tactics. The most frequently used strategies were items such as "Openly discussing your differences and needs" or "Telling him/her you've studied the issue and know a lot about it." The purpose of this descriptive study was to compare self-care behaviors which influence the risk for urinary tract infection in pregnant women of lower and other socioeconomic groups . The Survey of Personal Habits and Behaviors in Pregnant Women (1988) was administered to 57 subjects; however, one survey form was incomplete and was discarded from the data analysis. Data collected included positive and negative self-care behaviors, age, race, marital status, educational level, gestation, prenatal history, and employment. This was a correlational study designed to investigate the relationship of stress and menstrual symptomatology in college-age women. The null hypothesis stated there would be no significant correlation between stress levels and menstrual symptomatology in women attending college.
