Depression is a global healthcare crisis impacting millions worldwide. In the United States, over 8% of adults experience depression, leading to significant disability and increased healthcare costs. Many individuals with depression seek initial treatment in emergency departments (EDs). This project aims to reduce the burden of depression by training ED nurses to identify at-risk patients early and provide timely interventions and referrals. The practice problem identified at the project site was the lack of nurses’ knowledge of how cultural preferences influence diabetes self-management practices among African Americans with diabetes mellitus. An educational program focused on the cultural preferences of Sierra Leoneans that influence diabetes self-management practices was provided for 48 nurses who worked in the agency. Inefficient communication between nurses and patients increases the risk of medication errors and jeopardizes patient safety, ultimately resulting in lower patient satisfaction as indicated by Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores. The purpose of this quality improvement initiative was to assess the impact of educating nurses on patient medication education using the teach-back method. Data were collected using HCAHPS survey responses from adult patients with medical conditions who had been discharged from a medical-surgical unit. This study involved determining why mothers hesitate to vaccinate their children and where they get their information about vaccinations. This descriptive qualitative study guided by the health belief model explored the influence social media has on mothers’ perceived barriers to vaccinating their children. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, and one-on-one audio interviews were conducted via Zoom or in person with 19 participants. Congestive heart failure (CHF) is among the most common reasons for emergency room utilization and hospitalizations in those over age 65. With the rapidly aging population in the United States, the number of CHF patients is projected to continue to rise, disproportionately affecting rural communities. This research study evaluated an innovative nurse-led telemedicine program developed by one rural healthcare system to address the care and economic influence of rural CHF care. Despite the benefits of collaboration, first-year nursing students prefer not to work together. It was important to find out why nursing students do not want to collaborate. The purpose of this study was to discover first-year nursing students’ and faculty’s perceptions of how instructor-created opportunities for collaboration contributed to first-year nursing students’ collaboration. Using Wenger’s communities of practice (CoPs) model as a lens, the data were explored using a qualitative explanatory case study approach.
