Purpose/Objectives: To provide an overview of the efficacy of using iPad tablets and online education videos to provide cancer related patient education to increase patient knowledge and satisfaction.

Data Sources: A literature search for peer-reviewed articles from 2009-2019. Databases searched include Cochrane, CINAHL, and PubMed. English language terms utilized: waiting, patient experience, patient satisfaction, cancer, positive distraction, oncology, music, patient education, iPad, television, and online education. 10 articles will be utilized for this review.

Context: This project took place at a Federally Qualified Heath Center located in Northern California which serves approximately 200,000 diverse and economically disadvantaged patients.

Methods: The primary intervention was dissemination of an email to patients 50 and older, via their health system email account. The email included a direct link to PREPARE, an online advance care planning technology tool. A secondary intervention was a presentation to primary care providers that focused on end-of-life-care planning tools and communication strategies.

CRMC is a level one trauma and teaching hospital in Fresno, California. CRMC’s emergency department (ED) is licensed for 84 beds. When hall beds are added this ED can go up to 110 beds. CRMC sees over 9,000 patients a month. Due to an increase in hospital census and length of stay, this ED has a daily average of 30 inpatients boarding. In December of 2018, this ED had one hospital acquired pressure ulcers (HAPU). Purpose/Objectives: The purpose of this literature review is to examine the potential value for an interprofessional education program to increase novice nurse awareness of case management in heart failure.

Primary Practice Setting: Acute care healthcare settings involving novice nurses.

Findings/Conclusions: Evidence demonstrates that interprofessional collaboration on transitional care interventions for HF patients reduces 30-day readmissions. Implementation of an interprofessional education program for novice nurses can be an effective intervention to decrease readmissions by increasing knowledge of the nurse case manager role and development of interprofessional relationships.

A sepsis handoff tool utilized between Emergency Department nurses and unit nurses at a 554-bed acute care hospital were investigated. A survey assessing general knowledge of the facilities sepsis protocol was given to ED nurses, and unit nurses. The electronic health records (EHR) were evaluated for feasibility to transfer the facilities current paper format sepsis handoff tool into the EHR with time sensitive alerts. Three literature reviews supported utilization of standardized handoff tools for improved patient outcomes.

Problem. Patients with non-conditional cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), which lack magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) components, are unable to undergo MRI.
