Lung Protective Ventilation During General Anesthesia: A Staff Education Project, Carrie L. Hasenstab

Lung protective ventilation has shown to be an effective strategy of ventilation in perioperative patients. However, anesthesia providers often still employ traditional modes of ventilation. To improve the knowledge and utilization of lung protective ventilation during general anesthesia a clinical practice tool was developed. A PowerPoint educational program was utilized as the initial implementation of the lung protection tool. The practice guide and educational program was presented to anesthesia providers and PACU staff at a Southern Illinois Hospital. A pre/post survey served as the method of evaluation.
