Healthcare technician support in high-volume emergency departments (EDs) is often inadequate, leading to challenges in job satisfaction, confidence, and competence. This project implemented an evidence-based orientation and mentorship program to enhance these factors among healthcare techs. Using a nonrandomized before-after design, participants underwent structured mentorship and orientation, with outcomes measured through pre- and post-intervention surveys, competency assessments, and feedback forms. Data analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics to evaluate changes in job satisfaction, confidence, and competence. Results demonstrated measurable improvements in all three areas, supporting the effectiveness of structured mentorship in professional development and retention.

Background: There is a growing number of adults aged 65 years and older living with type 2 diabetes. Research shows this population is at a higher risk of losing independence due to diabetic complications. Ageism in the healthcare system creates a challenge for nurses and their patients. Knowledge is needed regarding sensory changes that occur with normal aging. This knowledge gap leads to stereotyping and missed opportunities for age-appropriate care. Nurses must recognize that hearing loss and naturally occurring vision changes can lead to poor outcomes and social isolation in older adults. The purpose of this project was to evaluate how a culture of medication safety can improve healthcare outcomes. Medication errors persist and remain the leading cause of preventable injury, highlighting the necessity to enhance the culture of medication safety in healthcare. The population for this project included clinical staff within a military healthcare setting. A quantitative survey assessed perceptions of medication safety, confidence levels, and obstacles to error reporting within the organization. Incidence of major depressive disorder is increasing year over year, with little able to be done to halt the spread of the condition. However, there are many treatment possibilities considered unconventional by the healthcare system. This thesis examines the respective benefits and risks, in comparison to one another, between conventional pharmacological treatment and functional, holistic treatment of depression. This was done via integrative review of available clinical literature, synthesizing evidence on both conventional and functional treatments for depression, as dictated by Whittemore and Knafl (2005). Parents who enter the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) undergo numerous stressors on their psychological wellbeing that can leave them with impacts long after discharge. This review was conducted to analyze the severity of long-term mental health deficits in parents and compare various nursing interventions that could decrease the incidence of these deficits. Seven databases were searched within the past seven years and documented in the PRISMA flow chart with twelve articles being identified as meeting the inclusion requirements. A Quantitative Study Teaching De-Escalation With Virtual Reality Simulation To Associate Nursing Students Measuring Effectiveness, Learning, And Confidence, Michele Rene Marbet

Workplace violence against nurses is a critical global public health issue, as one in four nurses reportedly experience physical assault by patients. This quantitative quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest study aimed to assess the effectiveness of virtual reality simulation as a teaching strategy for de-escalation education in associate nursing students’ (N = 29) perception in learning and confidence. The study utilized the Simulation Effectiveness Tool-Modified (SET-M) instrument to measure outcomes guided by Kolb's experiential learning theory and the NLN Jeffries simulation theory. The learning variable demonstrated significant improvement as confirmed by paired t-test analysis (p < .01). For the effectiveness and confidence variables, which violated assumptions of normality, a comprehensive statistical approach was implemented. Analysis included parametric testing via paired t-tests, supplemented by nonparametric methods (Wilcoxon Signed-ranks test and Sign test) to ensure statistical rigor. The cumulative results across all three statistical tests consistently demonstrated significant improvements (p < .001). Effect size calculations revealed medium to large significance for all variables measured by Cohen’s d. The conclusive findings of this research included a rejection of all three null hypotheses, which suggests that virtual reality simulation is an effective teaching strategy for developing de-escalation skills, enhancing both learning and confidence among associate nursing students. Future studies are needed to further validate and expand upon the findings of the current research, potentially leading to more widespread adoption of virtual reality simulation in nursing education for teaching de-escalation.

Unplanned pregnancies are a significant public health problem in the United States. Timely access to reliable contraception can decrease the incidence of unplanned pregnancies and their detrimental health impacts. This evidence-based practice project aimed to improve access to subdermal implantable long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) in the primary care setting by implementing a technology platform that enables in-office stocking of LARC devices, allowing for same-day access to LARC options. Data were collected over a 12-week period before and after implementation. Post-concussion syndrome, which occurs when concussion symptoms last longer than 3 months, is an area not well researched and often misunderstood. Post-concussion syndrome lingers without research based, effective treatment options for full patient recovery. This review was conducted to find the efficacy of psychological treatment options for patients with post-concussion syndrome. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological was to explore the lived experiences of Ukrainian prelicensure nursing students at a midwestern nursing program. The theory guiding this study was Albert Bandura’s social learning theory as it explains how people learn through observing, imitating, and modeling. Understanding how expectations formed while in nursing school affect one's successful transition as a newly licensed nurse allows educators to identify curriculum changes to align expectations between academic and healthcare settings to improve the transition to professional nursing. A descriptive-hermeneutic phenomenological study utilized interviews, observations, and journal activities to identify variances between student nurses' expectations and the professional nurse work environment.
