A study was conducted to identify factors which deterred twenty-three selected epileptic patients from utilizing public health nursing services. The literature was reviewed in areas relating to factors which may contribute to or deter patients use of clinic or public health services.

The descriptive survey approach employing an interview guide was used. Data on the guide were classified in two areas: (1) personal characteristics and (2) participant responses. It was the purpose of this study to gain greater insights into the problems and needs of patients with artificial pacemakers. The problem was to find out in what ways the pacemaker affected the patients' manner of living and what problems they had had in adjusting to a new way of life.

The problem of this study was to review 100 open heart surgical cases in a selected hospital to determine the changes occurring in central venous pressure in relation to blood loss.

The review of literature revealed that central venous pressure is an important factor in determining immediate postoperative care of open heart surgical patients. If central venous pressure falls below the normal range of 5 to 10 centimeters of water, hemorrhage is suspected. If central venous pressure is elevated between 15 and 20 centimeters of water, cardiac tamponade is suspected.

The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a significant difference in the amount of postpartum bleeding between two methods of uterine massage and no uterine massage. The experimental method with parallel groups technique and a single variable was used. The criterion used in determining the amount of bleeding was the volume of red cells lost.

The information obtained, it was hoped, would be helpful in giving nurses better insight into the emotional needs of these patients and to give a basis for planning nursing care.

The purposes of this descriptive survey were to (1) find out if the incidence of bladder infection could be reduced by decreasing the number of postoperative catheterizations, (2) find out what the incidence of current methods of postoperative bladder evacuation were, (3) find out if and what changes had occurred in the incidence of the methods of bladder evacuation since the publication of previous studies, and (4) discover the current relationships of the methods of bladder evacuation to various factors such as age, sex, marital status, admission status, type of operation, and type and length of anesthesia.
