Nursing leaders in ambulatory care may experience high levels of work-related stress and dissatisfaction with the number of hours they were working, and this dissatisfaction may result in higher turnover among nursing leadership.

The purpose of this evidence-based practice project was to develop a flexible scheduling option for nursing leaders practicing in ambulatory care at Rochester Regional Health to promote leader wellbeing and role satisfaction.

Results indicated that leadership satisfaction with their role and the amount of time spent working with nursing staff increased. Perceptions of work-life balance improved as did their interprofessional relationships. A decrease in the average number …

This technique is rarely seen in everyday hospital practice, even though there is ample evidence of its benefits and advantages. Our project aimed to combine research proving the effectiveness of swaddle bathing through scoring methods that consider pain, vital signs, temperature, crying duration, and more. Introduction: Education on social determinants of health (SDH) aligns with national standards for medical education. However, there are minimal existing resources targeted to medical students specific to the care of the pediatric population. We designed a case-based curriculum on SDH for third-year medical students on their pediatric clerkship to address this deficit. Methods: Third-year medical students on their pediatric clerkship received a case-based flipped classroom educational series on SDH in four 10-minute segments. Surges in mental health diagnoses and psychotropic medication prescriptions have occurred, compounded by a shortage of psychiatric providers. Non-prescribing mental health professionals are well-positioned to recognize psychotropic medication side effects. However, psychologists and counselors lack formal pharmacology education.

Methods: The quality improvement (QI) initiative was guided by the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model. Problem: Facility-acquired pressure injuries (FAPIs) pose significant risks to patient outcomes and healthcare costs ($500 to $70,000 per PI) in subacute rehabilitation (SAR) facilities. An assessment in a SAR identified a concerning pressure injury (PI) rate of 15.3%, exceeding the national benchmark of 10% for such facilities.
