Purpose Implement a standardized postoperative handoff tool to improve interdisciplinary communication during transfer of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) patients from the operating room to an obstetric intensive care unit at an academic women's hospital.

Background Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is a high-risk obstetric condition requiring coordinated multidisciplinary care. At the project site, operating room (OR)-to-obstetric intensive care unit (OB ICU) handoffs lacked a standardized process. This resulted in inconsistent communication and omission of critical information. Nurses reported reduced confidence. Despite throughput initiatives, increasing patient acuity and rising census levels continue to strain emergency department efficiency. Hypertension is a chronic condition characterized by persistently elevated blood pressure and remains a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2024), approximately 47.7% of U.S. adults have hypertension, yet only about one in five achieve blood pressure control below 130/80 mm Hg. Medication adherence plays a critical role in managing hypertension and preventing complications. This meta-analysis identifies noninvasive clinical predictors of intracranial hypertension (IH) post head trauma to develop a multi-criteria IH screening tool designed for nurses to wear on their badge reels. High-sensitivity predictors were prioritized to assist in early IH suspicion. Findings suggest that radiographic-measured abnormalities including an optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) 5.6 mm and signs of significant head trauma via computed tomography (CT) were highly effective for predicting IH and were therefore defined as major criteria for the assessment tool. Neuromuscular blockade (NMB) reversal is a critical component of anesthesia care, particularly in infants under two years of age who have immature autonomic regulation and heightened vagal tone, predisposing them to bradycardia. Neostigmine, the traditional reversal agent, is associated with parasympathomimetic effects such as bradycardia, requiring anticholinergic co- administration. Sugammadex, a selective relaxant binding agent, offers rapid and predictable reversal of aminosteroidal neuromuscular blocking agents with less cholinergic side effects. Purpose: The purpose of this quality improvement project was to implement a standardized MTP documentation flowsheet in a Level IV maternal Labor and Delivery unit and increase documentation compliance to ≥80% within one month of implementation.

Results: One-month post-implementation, documentation compliance reached 82%, exceeding the established goal of 80%. Compliance remained stable across monitoring periods, suggesting early adoption and short-term sustainability. Staff reported high usability ratings, improved workflow efficiency, and increased confidence in documenting MTP events following simulation-based education. Minimal missing data and consistent survey responses supported reliability of findings.

Secondhand smoke exposure can significantly worsen asthma outcomes in pediatric patients, leading to increased exacerbations and healthcare utilization. Caregivers can play a critical role in reducing secondhand smoke exposure, however sustained smoking cessation can be challenging to achieve. Two powerful healthcare interventions to assist in caregiver smoking cessation include motivational interviewing and educational handouts, however their compared effectiveness has not yet been fully reviewed. Patients with diabetes mellitus are significantly more prone to delayed gastric emptying, which can increase their risk for aspiration events in the operating room despite following standard fasting guidelines set by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). Background: This study aims to examine the relationship between organizational governance capacity (OGC) and organizational resilience (OR) in hospitals, with a focus on cross-institutional differences.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,143 employees from six hospital types in Istanbul, including university, Ministry of Health (state, training and research, and city), and private hospitals. Validated scales were used to measure OGC and OR. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, nonparametric tests, and structural equation modeling (SEM) to assess the relationships between these dimensions.

Background: Pediatric patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) face elevated risk for invasive pneumococcal disease, yet fewer than 10% are estimated to be current on pneumococcal vaccine (PCV) recommendations.

Local Problem: This quality improvement (QI) project aimed to develop and implement a standardized pneumococcal immunization screening and counseling process in a pediatric rheumatology clinic.

Maternal morbidity and mortality remain persistent challenges in the United States, with obstetric triage serving as a critical point of entry for timely recognition and management of high-acuity maternal-fetal conditions. Despite recommendations for acuity-based triage models, many obstetric units continue to rely on non-specific emergency triage tools, such as the Emergency Severity Index (ESI), which inadequately account for pregnancy-specific physiological changes and fetal status.
