Effects Of Music Therapy And Personal Interaction On The Preoperative Patient, Phyllis Jean Nix

This study was conducted to discover the effects of (1) an interpersonal relationship and (2) an interpersonal relationship and music therapy on preoperative patients in a selected hospital.

The descriptive survey was chosen as the method of study. A checklist and a tape recording of selected music were used as a tool of research. Two groups of preoperative patients were given nursing care by the researcher. Patients in Group One received care with an aim toward developing an interpersonal relationship, while patients in Group Two received the same as Group One with the addition of music therapy.

It was incorporated January 11, 1913. According to its constitution, it was organized to "provide graduate registered nurses to teach needy individuals and the general public hygiene, cleanliness, and the proper care of the sick; to prevent disease; and to render such aid as may from time to time be proper."I This organization has provided nursing care in homes, in clinics, in industries, and in other situations outside the hospitals since its beginning. Missionary nursing, as one form of nursing and as a method of endeavor, has been neglected in both nursing and mission literature.

It was the purpose of this study to identify, classify, and list bibliographical material which is applicable and would serve as a source of information to those preparing for, and directing others towards, overseas mission nursing.

The material for the bibliography was obtained through three sources (1) twenty-five institutions of religious education which offered courses in missions, (2) personal interviews, and (3) personal library research. The volumes included in this bibliography were selected on the basis of the …

This was a study of the religious behavior of the nurses who have graduated from a selected school of nursing. The purposes of the study were (1) to obtain information as to what the graduates of the selected school have been and are doing relative to their everyday religious behavior and practices, and (2) to ascertain to what extent, if any, this school of nursing has influenced the every-day religious behavior and practices of the graduates. A Study Of Attitudes Influencing Indonesian Seventh-Day Adventist Youth To Enter Nursing, Wilma L. Leazer

In this study a survey was made of the attitudes of Indonesian Seventh-day Adventists toward nursing. This was done for the purpose of discovering why there is a shortage of women applicants to the Seventh-day Adventist nursing school in Bandung, Java. The study was accomplished through the use of questionnaires administered to four selected groups in two geographic areas of Indonesia, and revealed attitudes of two adult groups and two student group. One hundred and twenty-one persons responded to the questionnaires.
