This piece reflects on my experience navigating depression during medical training and the unexpected ways community can foster healing. Healing does not always occur within clinical settings. Through this narrative, I explore how returning to faith and the support of a church community helped restore hope during a difficult season of my life. Writing this essay allowed me to reflect on how vulnerability and lived experience can shape a more compassionate and present physician.

Background: Depression and anxiety are prevalent in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and may adversely influence outcomes. We evaluated the impact of comorbid mood disorders on clinical outcomes among IBD patients treated with anti–IL-23 agents.

Methods: Using a global de-identified electronic health record network, adults with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis initiating an anti–IL-23 agent were identified. Cohort 1 included patients with a documented mood disorder (depression and/or anxiety) at or prior to treatment initiation; Cohort 2 included those without mood disorders. This project examines barriers to accessing mental healthcare among refugee populations in Southern New Jersey, with a focus on individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). Using a narrative review of peer reviewed studies and government reports, key challenges were identified, including language barriers, cultural stigma, and limited familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system. Findings show that refugee populations experience significantly higher rates of mental health disorders, including PTSD and depression, driven by trauma, structural inequities, and social disadvantage. Among pediatric hearing loss populations, co-occurring cognitive and physical impairments are risk factors for poor mental health status. Due to language barriers and isolation, more children with hearing loss do not have access to mental health services. Cochlear implants have been shown to improve mental health status among the DHH population. Methods: The study employed an exploratory sequential mixed-methods approach, which involved collecting and analyzing qualitative data first, followed by quantitative data collection. Selected purposively, 15 in-depth interviews were conducted among the target population. Using convenient sampling, 106 cross-sectional surveys were conducted. Diabulimia is a disordered eating behavior that involves an individual with type 1 DM withholding insulin injection to lose weight. Diabetes distress, a term used to describe the psychological stress associated with managing diabetes, is believed to be the cause of this condition. This review aims to assess whether individuals with diabulimia have measurable evidence of diabetes distress. Studies that described patients qualitative experiences with Diabulimia were matched and compared to the criteria in the Diabetes Distress Scale. Methods: The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) study was conducted via telephone survey in 50 states, including the District of Columbia and US territories.
