The impact of racial and sexual minority stigma, prejudice, and discrimination on the mental health and well-being of Black and LGBTQ individuals, respectively, has been well documented in the literature. Research on these relationships for Black LGBTQ individuals who are multiply marginalized due to their position at the social intersections of gender identity, sexual orientation, and race/ethnicity is less common. Belongingness to identity-based communities can protect against the negative impact of these minority stressors for Black and LGBTQ individuals and aid coping processes. This thesis investigates the unique interactions between pregnancy, substance involvement, and race as they relate to the War on Drugs and the hyper-incarceration of women. Using ordinary least square regression analyses and data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ 2016 Survey of Prison Inmates, I examine if (and how) pregnancy status, drug use, race, and their interactions influence two length of incarceration outcomes: sentence length and amount of time spent in jail between arrest and imprisonment. The results collectively indicate that pregnancy decreases length of incarceration outcomes for those offenders who are not substance-involved but not evenhandedly -- benefitting white …

Opioid Use Disorder is patterns of opioid use leading to withdrawal, giving up important life events in order to use opioids, and excessive time spent using opioids, to name a few diagnostic criteria. The clinical progression of the disorder involves periods of acute exacerbation and remission that are cyclic in nature. Treatment is most effective when it includes both pharmacological and psychosocial modalities, referred to as medication assisted therapy (MAT). Three drugs used commonly in MAT-based treatment for OUD from oldest to newest include Methadone, Buprenorphine-naloxone, and Naltrexone. In this course, the assessment of health issues are analyzed from various perspectives including geographic, ethnic, religious, human rights, socioeconomic, social, cultural, and political influences. Students learn about global environmental causes and consequences of infectious diseases, major diseases, mental illness, natural disasters, malnutrition, drug and alcohol addiction, violence and injuries.

The 39th Annual Dudley A. Sargent Lecturer challenges the kinesiology professions to be intentional in addressing issues related to spatiality. Beginning with an outline of how such a focus has viability for the profession, the author overviews: (a) spatial justice and mobility through the lens of Gordon Parks; (b) surfing, localism and cityhood efforts; (c) notions of space and dehumanization as defined by Herbert Kelman; and (d) the need for a renewal of kinesthetic consciousness in the face of unrestricted technocracy in physical education. This research focuses on social entrepreneurship called Waroeng Hijau, which was initiated by one of the Regional Owned Enterprises since 2008. Waroeng Hijau is a women's empowerment program to address social issues in the Pademangan Sub-district, North Jakarta. This study uses a persuasive case approach (Siggelkow, 2007) to see the institutional structure or business model of social entrepreneurship that supports women's empowerment. This research is a quantitative research with descriptive design. This research is background by the importance of employee’s satisfaction in the Human Service Organization’s setting. Meanwhile, the research about employee’s job satisfaction among Human Service Organization is still rare. This study aims to provide an overview of the caregiver's contribution in fulfilling child welfare in orphanages as a substitute for parents who are needed to fulfill children's development needs. This study uses the UNICEF Child Welfare and Protection Framework, namely Parenting Capacity and limits the discussion on one of the indicators, namely Emotional Warmth. This study uses a qualitative approach with a type of descriptive research. Data collection methods used are literature studies, observations and in-depth interviews. The proportion of rural poverty is always higher than urban poverty in Indonesia. Poverty reduction programs, especially in rural areas, should put the community as the priority subject in each program. Banyuwangi Regency in East Java Province is one of the best example in poverty reduction program. Banyuwangi succeed to reduce its poverty rate significantly from tourism sector. KUBE is one of the poverty alleviation programs under the Directorate of Social Empowerment and Poverty Reduction, Ministry of Social Affairs. This program aims to empower the poor groups through the financial assistance to support productivity in economy. KUBE in Keparakan Village, Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City is one of the KUBE in DIY Province which is the best KUBE candidate in DIY.
