เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : โรคเบาหวานเป็นโรคเรื้อรังที่เป็นปัญหาสำคัญด้านสาธารณสุขและผู้ป่วยต้องได้รับการดูแลรักษาอย่างต่อเนื่องทั้งด้านร่างกายและด้านจิตใจ การศึกษาภาวะซึมเศร้าในผู้ป่วยเบาหวานพบว่ายังมีการศึกษาจำนวนน้อยในประเทศไทย วัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาความชุกของภาวะซึมเศร้าและปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องของภาวะซึมเศร้าในผู้ป่วยเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2 ที่มารับบริการที่โรงพยาบาลเจ้าพระยาอภัยภูเบศร จังหวัดปราจีนบุรี วิธีการทำวิจัย : เป็นการศึกษาวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา ณ จุดเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่ง ในกลุ่มผู้ป่วยเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2 จำนวน 355 รายที่มารับการรักษาที่คลินิกเบาหวานแผนกผู้ป่วยนอกของโรงพยาบาลเจ้าพระยาอภัยภูเบศร จังหวัดปราจีนบุรี ในช่วงเดือนสิงหาคมถึงธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2560 เครื่องมือที่ใช้เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามข้อมูลทั่วไป แบบประเมินอาการวิตกกังวล และอาการซึมเศร้าฉบับภาษาไทย แบบสอบถามการรับรู้ภาวะสุขภาพ แบบประเมินสภาพและการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของครอบครัว สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลได้แก่ ค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน สถิติไคสแควร์ ฟิชเชอร์เอ็กเซ็ท การวิเคราะห์สัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ของเพียร์สัน และการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยโลจิสติก ผลการศึกษา : กลุ่มตัวอย่างมีอายุเฉลี่ย 55.7 ปี ร้อยละ 60 เป็นเบาหวานมากกว่า 5 ปี ประมาณร้อยละ 25 มีการใช้สมุนไพร พบความชุกของภาวะซึมเศร้าในผู้ป่วยเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2 เท่ากับร้อยละ 20.8 การรับรู้ภาวะสุขภาพอยู่ในระดับปานกลางเท่ากับร้อยละ 84.8 ปัจจัยที่พบความสัมพันธ์กับภาวะซึมเศร้าอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ได้แก่ อายุมากกว่า 50 ปี ไม่ได้ประกอบอาชีพ มีการใช้ชะเอม สภาพและการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ของครอบครัวไม่ค่อยดี สรุป : การศึกษาครั้งนี้พบความชุกของภาวะซึมเศร้าถึง 1 ใน 5 ของผู้ป่วยเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2 และพบปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลและครอบครัวมีความสัมพันธ์กับภาวะซึมเศร้า ผลการศึกษานี้น่าจะให้แนวทางที่เป็นประโยชน์ในการตระหนักถึงภาวะซึมเศร้าและให้การดูแลรักษาผู้ป่วยเบาหวานชนิดที่ 2

One challenge to understanding mechanisms of behavior change (MOBC) completely among individuals with alcohol use disorder is that processes of change are theorized to be complex, dynamic (time varying), and at times non-linear, and they interact with each other to influence alcohol consumption. We used dynamical systems modeling to better understand MOBC within a cohort of problem drinkers undergoing treatment. We fit a mathematical model to ecological momentary assessment data from individual patients who successfully reduced their drinking by the end of the treatment. Though mental health issues are prevalent in Black young adults, they underutilize mental healthcare services. This research examined the role of feature-based discrimination in mental healthcare (under)utilization. Study 1, a secondary analysis of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health, provided no evidence supporting a link between skin tone and mental healthcare utilization, when controlling for depression diagnosis. However, when controlling for depression symptoms, there was a trend such that Black young adults with darker, as opposed to lighter, skin tone utilized healthcare less. Objectives: Adherence to psychotropic medication is poor among individuals with bipolar disorder (BD). To understand treatment experiences and associated adherence among these individuals, we developed a novel construct of Clinical Net Benefit (CNB) using psychiatric symptoms, adverse effects and overall functioning assessments. We tested whether adherence differed across classes of CNB, whether individuals transitioned between classes over time, and whether these transitions were differentially associated with adherence.

This study is the first to apply the Stress Process Model of Caregiving (SPM) in an attempt to understand how mental illness stigma influences caregiver outcomes, specifically their desire to relinquish care. Little is systematically known about the collective health and well-being of Virginia American Indian people. This study sought to explore the meaning of health and healing among Virginia American Indian people in the context of a reservation-based, non-federally funded health clinic. Using an emergent approach to qualitative research grounded in a constructivist inquiry paradigm and guided by Indigenous research principles, a total of 24 in-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 17 American Indian service-users of the Clinic. DNA methylation is necessary for learning, memory consolidation and has been implicated in a number of neuropsychiatric disorders. Obtaining high quality and comprehensive data for the three common forms of methylation in brain is challenging for methylome-wide association studies (MWAS). To address this we optimized a panel of enrichment methods for screening the brain methylome. Results show that these enrichment techniques approach the coverage and fidelity of the current gold standard bisulfite based techniques. An increasing portion of police service resources are being dedicated to interactions involving persons with mental illness (PMI). As a result, Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Teams (MCT) comprised of mental health professionals have been recently implemented to assist police officers in more efficiently handling police calls for service involving PMI. The current ethnographic study used data collected through researcher ride-alongs with police officers at a mid-sized police service in Ontario to assess how police officers interact with and perceive MCTs. Income-based indicators of happiness have been shown to be limited in their ability to predict happiness. Alternative measures of happiness have been gaining prominence in happiness research, and two predictors of happiness were investigated in the current study. The extent to which happiness (measured by affect, life satisfaction, and psychological well-being) could be predicted by gender and perception of community safety was investigated with 19,644 participant responses to The Happiness Alliance Survey. Multiple linear regression models indicated that gender and community safety are significant predictors of affect, life satisfaction, and psychological well-being. There is a dearth of research on the mental health of Polynesians residing in the United States. The aims of this study were to examine experiences of racial discrimination, self-esteem, trait anger, satisfaction with life, and psychological well-being among 628 Polynesians (e.g., Native Hawaiian, Tongan, Samoan, Fijian, Tahitian, Maori; 60% women (n 378) and 40% men (n 249); mean age 28.7). Method: Measures were administered through an online survey to 628 Polynesians residing in the United States.
