Introduction: The overdose crisis continues to be a significant problem, particularly in rural states such as Maine. The objectives of this study were to: 1) describe demographic and health characteristics and 2) identify overdose risk factors among people in Maine hospitalized with injection drug use (IDU)-associated infections.

Methods: We performed descriptive analysis of demographics, health characteristics, and injection practices, stratified by lifetime history of overdose. The current intake ticket process includes various communication channels to the business intelligence developers [BID] when a reporting need is identified resulting in workflow deficiencies and redundancies. As of FY23, MaineHealth has moved to a new ticket reporting system called ServiceHub which includes new customer self-service tools that have not yet been utilized.

Patient access to diagnostic outpatient (OP) cardiac catheterization is limited by a perceived lack of capacity. Outpatient cardiac cath pts flow through the ACU for pre/post procedure care. Current schedule limits pts that may be scheduled through the ACU to two OP procedures/day. Cardiologists request the ability to schedule beyond the two procedures/day allowed. • Few publications report shivering incidence, timing, or severity during TTM, and shivering treatment recommendations conflict.

• To evaluate multimodal shivering assessments, we studied patients during TTM managed with surface cooling, moderate analgosedation, surface counterwarming, and intermittent neuromuscular blockade (NMB) and evaluated surface electromyographic (EMG) power in decibels using the Medtronic bispectral index (BIS) monitor.

Introduction: Guidelines on orthopedic hip surveillance in children with cerebral palsy have been published to minimize the effects of cerebral palsy and maximize quality of life. Researchers aimed to identify barriers to cerebral palsy care and to assess adherence to national hip-surveillance guidelines among a small subset of children with cerebral palsy who live in a rural state.

Methods: Parents of children with cerebral palsy were interviewed, and thematic analyses were performed on the recorded transcripts. Patient-specific data about imaging and demographics were manually extracted from the electronic health record to perform a mixed-methods analysis.

Introduction: A patient with no prior diagnosis of diabetes presented with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and severe insulin resistance after being treated with enfortumab vedotin (EV). EV-associated DKA is uncommon—described in only a few case reports—and has unknown pathophysiology. This case characterizes the unique features of DKA in this patient and an unusual amount of insulin resistance not typically seen in patients with diabetes.

Clinical Findings: A 71-year-old male presented with fatigue, xerostomia, and increased thirst. He had a history of obesity, hypertension, and invasive, high-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma. His laboratory results were consistent with DKA.

Background:

Healthcare workers (HCWs) caring for patients with acute neurologic injury in the ICU rarely receive detailed information on the recovery of their patients. The missing connection between the period of acute neurologic injury and long-term outcomes is a psychological burden that contributes to moral fatigue and burnout.

We hypothesize that attending an Interprofessional conference series through which patients describe their acute brain injury and recovery to Neuro-ICU HCWs may ease moral fatigue, increasing professional fulfillment and reducing burnout.
