Intrinsic Programmed Death Ligand 1 (Pd-L1) Role In Promoting Triple Negative Breast Cancer (Tnbc) Progression, Duaa Salem Alkaabi
Theses
This thesis is concerned with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), which is characterized by lack of estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 receptors expression, making targeted drugs ineffective. TNBC has a high proliferative rate, which results in a poor prognosis. Chemotherapy, the primary treatment for metastatic breast cancer, is not an ideal choice due to its toxicity towards normal cells. Therefore, Cancer-targeted therapy has been developed to improve the specificity and strength of the immune system against cancer cells. PD-L1 is an immunosuppressive protein that inactivates T cells by binding to the inhibitory receptor PD-1. The clinical use of PD-L1 blockade agents …
Effects Of St713 With Simultaneous Histamine H3 And Dopamine D2/D3 Receptor Antagonist Properties On Cognitive Impairments And Autism-Like Behaviors In Btbr T+Tf/J Mice, Mohammed Mustafa Alawad
Effects Of St713 With Simultaneous Histamine H3 And Dopamine D2/D3 Receptor Antagonist Properties On Cognitive Impairments And Autism-Like Behaviors In Btbr T+Tf/J Mice, Mohammed Mustafa Alawad

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is a multifactorial neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by two core symptoms which are impairments in social interaction and communication, repetitive and restricted behaviors. Dopamine (DA) and histamine (HA) are two neurotransmitters that are proposed to be involved in several brain disorders including schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and narcolepsy, all of those disorders are comorbid with ASD. Thus, the palliative effects of the novel multiple-active histamine H3 receptor (H3R) antagonist and dopamine D2/D3 receptor (D2/D3R) antagonist ST-713 with its high H3R antagonist affinity and balanced inhibitory effects on both dopaminergic receptor subtypes D2R and D3R on ASD-like behaviors in …

Cannabinoid type 2 receptors (CB2), a key member of the endocannabinoid system have recently emerged as a crucial therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Downregulation of CB2 receptors has been witnessed in various cancers, neurological and cardiovascular disorders. Thus, the activation of CB2 receptors may protect against ISO-induced myocardial infarction (MI) in rats. The present study investigates the cardioprotective effect of a selective cannabinoid type 2 receptor agonist β-caryophyllene (BCP), a dietary phytocannabinoid, and a natural bicyclic sesquiterpene against isoproterenol (ISO)-induced MI in rats. Male albino Wistar rats were pre-and co-treated with β-caryophyllene (50 mg/kg, orally) twice daily for 10 …
Effect Of Genipin On Cisplatin- Induced Nephrotoxicity, Eglal Orner Mahgoub
Effect Of Genipin On Cisplatin- Induced Nephrotoxicity, Eglal Orner Mahgoub
Theses
Cisplatin (CSP) is a potent and widely used chemotherapeutic agent. However, clinical efficacy of CSP is compromised due to the elicitation of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity. In this study, I have investigated the nephroprotective effects of a phytochemical – genipin (GP) isolated from gardenia flower (Gardenia jasminoides), on a murine model of cisplatin-induced nephropathy. CSP-induced renal tissue injury was characterized by elevated levels of serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (Cr) and cystatin-C. In addition, levels of kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) were increased in the renal tissues of CSP administered animals. CSP also induced renal oxidative stress, evidenced by increased NADPH …
