With the rapid changes in healthcare over the years, inevitably, the roles of behavioral health professionals have changed in response. Notably, the burgeoning field of telehealth, the new structure of integrated care, and the cautions placed on using psychiatric medication all impact the responsibilities and expectations of behavioral health professionals. With the new directions in healthcare, prospective behavioral health professionals may find themselves unprepared in their career if education does not change in response to these new trends. This paper sought to describe from a set of 6 demographic and 13 lifestyle change variables the person who is significantly and positively impacted by preventive health care information (PHCI). Based on past research, six hypotheses were developed. Three of the six hypotheses were accepted. In addition, there were significant relationships for each of the six demographic variables with at least one of the lifestyle change variables. Those who are seeking and are positively impacted by PHCI are better educated, female, and (depending upon the lifestyle change variable in question) fall into a definite age category. Primary care physicians occupy a vital position to impact many devastating conditions, especially those dependent upon early diagnosis, such as skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States and despite improvements in skin cancer therapy, patients with a delay in diagnosis and advanced disease continue to have a grave prognosis. Due to a variety of barriers, advanced stages of skin cancer are more prominent in rural populations. Electronic medical record systems have become essential for giving patient care at health care institutions. The purpose of this study was to explore the training provided to staff at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest Family Medical Center in an effort to identify participant training experiences, needs, and perceptions. This study included qualitative, case study research. There were fourteen participants in the study. A focus group interview was conducted with eight administrative and training participants. Interviews and observations were conducted with six staff members.

The literature review of this study discussed educational theories including andragogy and training techniques. …

Background: Warfarin is the most commonly prescribed oral anticoagulant for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism. Due to its narrow therapeutic index, warfarin requires close monitoring of the international normalized ratio (INR) to ensure proper anticoagulation control and safety. INRs outside of this range are strongly associated with an increased risk of major bleeding, thromboembolic events, and death. Patient self-testing (PST) using a point-of-care device allows patients to monitor INR results at home. Evidence shows that PST improves the clinical outcomes of warfarin therapy compared to usual care, which includes laboratory INR monitoring. Purpose: To compare the clinical effectiveness …

E-learning, also known as computer-assisted learning, successfully bridges anatomical knowledge and transferrable skills, such as critical analysis, teamwork, leadership and communication. Several institutions have already integrated histology and physiology in team based laboratory approaches, but integration of histology and pathology instruction has been done to a lesser extent. Our aim was to develop an e-learning atlas that integrates microanatomy and pathology laboratory for an interdisciplinary pre-clinical medical curriculum.

Objectives: The team worked on a systematic review to answer the question: Do health sciences libraries and librarians have any measurable (statistically significant) positive impacts on consumer health, the outcomes of medical care, the productivity of biomedical researchers, and the knowledge obtained by graduates of biomedical and health sciences training programs, and at what total cost?
