As the geriatric population grows rapidly, the importance of utilizing and understanding palliative services continues to rise. Although palliative and hospice care are included in different healthcare courses, misconceptions and lack of knowledge continue to serve as barriers to the utilization of palliative care. The purpose was to assess knowledge, improve palliative care education, and increase understanding of the perspectives of the interdisciplinary team involved in acute patient care.   • Describe the current guidelines for CAT treatment. - Assess risk factors for bleeding and thrombosis in cancer patients and risk/benefits of anticoagulation.
  • Recognize the need for individualized anticoagulation plans in order to make informed decisions that may differ from the guidelines.

In 2015, thirty-four million Americans provided unpaid care to an adult 50 years or older. Due to an aging population and an increased number of individuals living with chronic disease, the niche that caregivers occupy in healthcare administration will only become more invaluable in the coming years. However, studies demonstrate that one-third of caregivers report a high burden of care, and these stresses are accompanied by documented health risks including higher rates of depression, insomnia, and all-cause mortality.
