The obesity epidemic continues to be a major problem with no clear end in sight. The food and foodservice industry are one of the largest growing areas for employing Registered Dietitians (RD). High growth rates are anticipated in a number of non-traditional areas for RD. There is justification for requiring culinary skills in dietetic training as knowledge of food and food preparation play a role in all areas of dietetics.
