Aims and objectives
The aim of this study was to explore parental perception of assets and barriers of healthy eating and physical activity among a group of diverse, economically disadvantaged mothers in southeastern USA.
Background
The World Health Organization (2012) estimated that 170 million children in developed and developing countries are overweight or obese. Higher prevalence rates of obesity are reported more frequently among children from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds (Waters et al. 2011).
